Hello again, Today should be the actual beginning of the my project. Someone's coming to take the dump unit from my truck then I'll have a much clearer view and accessibility of the rest to get going on it. I decided to s**** the military scheme and just go rust. I'm in love with the rusty look. Fully functional, ugly as hell. Just my style. Anyway, a new pic or two of my proposed ride. Disregard the engine in the pics. I used some pics I took of someone's ride that came to my place to buy some parts. The motor in the pics is a straight 8 with mcculloch hair dryer attached. I'll be runnin a straight 6 in mine. I decided to stick with my ugly rendition of a grill because it's different. Any thoughts? Keep the top on the truck chopped or just cut it off altogether?
Bad***, ive always had the idea of doing a modified, made from a 30's AA. Non rusty for me, but whatever works. I like your roadster version, looks less ratrod'ish. but seriously nice idea. in one of the mooneyes threads, there was a modified made from 2 ton axles, no duals in rear, but just 2 single outer wheels from the dually setups, looked awsome.
sadly, i agree with the roadster idea... the chopped version you have there has a real goofy look to it. reminds me of german Luftwaffe m42 helmet... yaknow like Sgt Shultz wore. lol seriously it does. maybe if you left a lil more on top, or sectioned it a bit but yea, the roadster version looks better if you can pull off the tin work and it dont look like it was lopped off with a chainsaw like some i have seen
Yea you would need to appreaciate that gentle curve below the rear windows, on the sides, also it would need to be sections like... a foot haha,cuz that firewall is ****ing huge. Awsome truck to be cutting up though, but i can see why, ..body panels? id love to find me a truck like that locally so i can make it into a short flatbed,and move that rearend up closer.,
I like the roadster idea, too. But are you sure your pic is to scale? I'd think cab you have will actually be taller than shown, even when the top is cut off at the top of the doors. Anyway, to add just another opinion, I think it would look cool with a real short pickup bed on the back. Just a suggestion.
Keep the fenders, and z the hell outta the frame. I think retaining the one ton look woudl be killer!!!
Thanks for the other opinion. It prompted me to hack up the truck image (photoshoped) and put them together. It'll be close. With 20 inch wheels, it'll be fine and kind of strange to boot. Like a truck stretched and slammed into a modified roadster with a computer program and a sledgehammer. The truck wheels are 18's and 33 in high now as seen in the pic so 20'ss should be neat I think. We'll see how it goes. Roadster it is.
Glad you took a look at it again. I hated to be the skeptic here, but even with Photoshop sometimes the angle of the photo can produce a deceiving image when cropped, etc. Many of us here use Photoshop to try to get an accurate idea of what the finished product will be, but I think you just have to be careful and not totally believe what you see. Like I said, I'm glad you took another look, and if it looks like what you want... go for it. Good luck.
No, I appreciate all opinions. The original concept art was off a bit. I don't mind skeptics at all. It's how things get done sometimes. I guess I'll know when I take the cab off and sit it on the rails of the frame with axles & wheels attached to them. Truth is: From the bottom of the windows to the botom of the cab is 33 inches. The wheels are 33 inches high. So, if you give 3-4 inches of ground clearance it should be ok. Will see. Onward.
