the only numbers i can find are on the front right passenger side of the carrier housing which is (i think) 3863495N.....and because of the number location, i think it might be a 62-63.....(not sure one bit though) and because of the cover, i know it is a 8.2" rearend.....hope this helps, I really would like to know what this came out of....mainly for parts purposes....(you know the idiots behind the counter, you have to know everything, or else you get the wrong part....)

I can decipher the stamped number on the axle tube but you're gonna hafta scrape some more to find it. The book says it should be stamped in "the rear of the left axle tube, approximately 3" from the carrier". I should be able to tell you the year, division, ratio and whether it's locking or not. Scrape, me boy, scrape!

well i found it finally, on the front (sort of....i think the guy that stamped it must have been about to leave for the day...) passenger side axle tube....

    the number is CA 12 28 W

I have found out by the site listed above, and others that i found, that it was made on Dec. 28 in Warren, MI.....however i don't know the year...or the model of vehicle it came from

And i found out the gear ratio the hard way....i opened it up and found out it has a 3.08 ratio....

just wanna know the year and model now....

    Thanks guys....
