So, it just occurred to me that I joined our alliance 10 years ago today. The numbers are kind of strange. 10 years to the day, 20 days before I turned 60 & now 20 days before I turn 70 on the 10th day of next month. When I joined, I built a '33, while restoring a'66 (no, not in 99 days, but it could have very well been 999 days). And to top it off, this is my 2016th post! This is all true.

What else is true is that in those ten years I did something I never thought I'd do...build a car from scratch out of many disparate parts. A body here, a door there, an engine, a trans, a frame, a rear, nuts, bolts, wheels, tires, wires, glass, wood, rubber, fluids, papers, junk yards, trading, flea markets, UPS trucks, Fed Ex trucks, Ebay, Hershey, the HAMB "Parts for Sale," power tools, hand tools, blood, the E.R., burns, bruises, sleepless nights, cold, hot, smoke, sparks, fire, chopping, channeling, painting, fabricating and most importantly, dreaming & hoping. Through the guidance of all of you, including guys that are no longer with us, I learned welding, design, metal forming, wiring & mechanics. I was also entertained the whole way. But most importantly, I made some great acquaintances. I went from asking, learning & being encouraged to even a little teaching & encouraging others. I thank you all for that. Just sayin'....thanks H.A.M.B. (P.S....the dog in the pic was 5 when I joined & he's now 15. That kind of puts it into perspective.)

I started with the HAMB in 98 or 99.. I met Brian Bass way back and asked him if he was on the HAMB. He said he had never heard of it but he showed up here after that. :)

  13. ...congrats, great story,..did you build that truck in that little shop?
...how bout a couple pics of the truck....and what's your dogs name?
...numbers can be fascinating;..a few years back I bought an old truck each week for 3 weeks, a 35, a 36 and a 37 Ford trucks all bought in the correct chronological order
...names can be that way also, one year I kept meeting new friends or friends of friends and the first five guys I met were named Jerry....I couldn't believe it, thot someone was playin a trick on me.
...this Friday will be 12 years for me...

Excellent, as you said in my PM we joined the same year same time ,but in age we are very close to 10 yrs apart.
Keep building those cool gauges Greg. Waiting in anticipation for your next patient we discussed to come out of surgery from the workshop bench. Keep me posted when the patient is fully discharged.

Yeah, Pecker Head, it is more crowded, but it's not like being in a traffic jam. We have more ideas, more junk to buy in the classifieds & a lot more pictures. Ten years ago it'd take a minute for one pic load.

Thanks for all of the great comments. We are a diverse bunch, united by a common thread. That's a good thing. Here's an older pic of the build. The headers are now black & I got a new set of those Halibrand style repop smoothies with bias ply blackwalls, but everything else is essentially the same. It still starts great, runs like a menace & tracks straight. I guess I got lucky.

Well hell, we probably went to different schools together and graduated the same year. Got you beat as I turned 70 today but will have 9 HAMB years in the 28th of next month.
That truck just flat looks like fun and the pup has the lets go for a ride look.

So, what is that in dog years?...

  28. Turned 10 years old on here August 29th. I was too busy with my Dad's death ( August 25th ) to even realize it. Congrats on 10 years here, as others have noted, things have changed a bit around here.

Serendipitous numerology going on here. Cool. Congrats on the truck and the Hambiversary (as Danny so righteously dubbed it)! Also creeping up on 10 years. How can a web forum not change/evolve over a decade? Kudos to the Boss for keeping it as vibrant and relevant as it is.

One thing has not changed: the HAMB is still at the dead center of the traditional hotrod universe.
