Just put Moog ball joints on my car. Said made in USA on the box (don't really know where the joint was made.). Stu
I always wondered why a muffler for a Cadillac would cost me more than one for a Chevrolet until a factory rep explained it to me. It costs just as much to tool up for either make muffler but they know going in that they will sell a lot more Chevy mufflers than Cadillacs. In order to get their initial investment back so that they can make a profit... a Cadillac muffler needs to carry a bigger percentage of the tooling costs up front to be profitable down the road. Profit is not a 4 letter word. Without it there would be no parts available. I'm just happy that someone is still making this stuff.
I don't see a problem with $100 a ball joint... unless your car needs 16 ball joints... That's the price you pay for looking cool!
From what I've heard, moog isn't quite as good as it used to be. But maybe that only applies to parts for late model cars?
When in doubt I go to the parts store, lay out the differnet price points and mfgers and COMPARE. Sometimes the midgrade one is the better quality? Sometimes money talks.
Ford and Mopar have both had balljoint issues in recent years. Don't know why, large dia. wide tires maybe?
Needed to replace ball joints on my mothers 1990 OT car, bought the $80 moogs instead of $50 cheapies. First one leaked grease around crimp of bottom cover, no problem lifetime warranty. Second one leaks just as bad.
Yep, Amazon is most likely getting them direct from Moog at their price while when you get them at the parts house several steps along the way have taken their cut out of the pie.
i've got kanter stuff on my 59 elky. 18 years and a WHOLE LOT OF MILES,no complaints. and yes i know that they may have been built better 18 years ago. just sayin
2 hundo bux for ball joints is way cheaper than it will be to put a fender back on that car when the wheel falls off.
Oh, believe me I know about fenders, already bought 2. I have no problem with buying them if thats what I need, just wanted to check to see if anyone has ever saved a few bucks on them and some feedback on brand quality. Thanks for the advice, gonna order them today.
I had my local NAPA order all the replacement wear parts for my 63 Galaxie and the tab was $1300 and some change, ouch. I guess I should have priced them first. I mean how many 63 Fords did they make 10?
Anyone tried P-S-T.com ? Galaxie front end kit costs $250 ish, . . . http://catalog.p-s-t.com/index.php?...akeID=46&vehicleID=31118&engineconfigID=16021 http://www.p-s-t.com/s.nl/it.A/id.124/.f?sc=12
