Was planning on this great 1000th hamb tribute thank you post for all of the information, inspiration, motivation, imagination that I have gleaned from it but it comes down to one of the great tools of the hamb...I value you and appreciate and am asking for your opinions...after 7 years off and on my 54 plymouth 2 door wagon turned sedan delivery is finally ready for paint...other projects have come and gone but this one has slowly progressed and transformed into what it is now: sedan delivery, shaved, dropped, desoto hood scoop and other small custom touches in and out...the original paint scheme has long been forgotten: some ideas I have are: 2 tone lime green with charcoal, 2 tone purple and silver, antifreeze green with black metallic, coppery orange with black, two tone silver (med silver and light silver) ...monotone choices exist too but basically I am in panic mode as my buddy called about an hour ago and said let's get it sprayed this week as his business is slow and he can fit it in...so let the opinions fly and thanks for your help in advance...sorry pix are so poor but his shop is closed and these are all I have...and thanks to Ryan and the hamb for a great place to hangout
The HAMBers will give you much inspiration in your paint choice. But no matter how good it looks, YOU have to step up and look worthy of such a fine car. May I suggest the following for your fashion make-over... ALL real rodders will be wearing these threads. You will be the first, thus the role-model. You have arrived as a trend setter!
GEEZ! You waste your 1000thnpost on that POS!!! Just kidding,lol... How about Seafoam green and paint the panel bone color. What did you do with the rear door? Is it a lift or did you make it swing open to the left?
Mazooma...I would expect nothing less...Bad Bob I left the lift and drop as it lays perfectly flat which is excellent for tailgating, hauling and the window locks in place nicely if ya got your longboard hanging out...Seafoam has been tossed around a couple of times
Happy thousanth but correct me if i'm wrong, isn't it "tradition" to put somthing up for auction once you reach such a milestone?
If that's the case then I will put up a ten pack of ODDROD GARAGE TEE SHIRTS...TEN DIFFERENT DESIGNS IN X-LARGE...I WILL EVEN SHIP THEM...I WILL PUT UP AN AUCTION POST IN A BIT...DIDN'T KNOW IT'S A TRADITION BUT I THINK THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!
Wow, nothing carrys the lines better than a sedan delivery. Its gotta be two colors...maybe three...two is safer. red/silver? two shade of silver/gray? Maybe the Photoshop guys could do it up for you if you could get a good side photo... By the way...why does Bob always have to use the word "bone". Whats up with that? Sheez...
seafoam and white flake and if you go with mazooma's taste de eleganza you will be the cats *** in those fine ready wear threads!!
I vote for anti-freeze green with solid (non-metallic) black. Metallic black is kind of boring sometimes because it doesn't look as deep and dark as gloss black, and it doesn't have much sparkle, and the reflections are all dull and muddy. A bright anti-freeze green against a deep dark black would have way more contrast. You'd get cool crisp reflections in the black and sparkles and bright colors in the green. Metallic black seems like an Earl Scheib Paint choice to use when you're just trying to hide some bad bondo work. I guess it looks nice though sometimes on the right car if you're trying to keep it subtle.
At this very moment I am growing my sideburns, going to my Dad's to find his lethal stash of Aqua Velva...gonna get a Brady Bunch perm...I have always wanted to be the cats *** and now, finally, it might be within my reach
C'mon.....it's YOUR car! YOU are the one who has to be happy with it, not anyone else! I paint cars for my friends, but would NEVER tell them what color to do it. That is so personal a choice! If someone has a favorite color in mind, I might guide them into choices around that, like the advantages of using a stock base/clear, or whether they want to mov eup a notch into a custom pearl, or candy color. Or what color would compliment their choice, but I always let the customer choose his color for the car, unless it is a truly hideous choice! (and yeah, I've had a few who, even after my advice, still choose a bad color, or graphic! But it is still THEIR car)
I'm not holding a raffle and picking out a piece of paper with a color combo on it...I am asking for some opinions...having had this thing for 7 plus years I have come up wiht a million combos for it...now buddy has finally slotted me in and I am a little unsure of myself...my thinking is that somebody might come up with something I haven't thought of...obviously it's my decision but all color choice input is appreciated...that was the purpose of this thread to get color choice input and apparently you are not offering any
I'm tossing a wrench in the works: '56 Packard Turquoise over black, two toned with lime green pin striping... Nice looking Mopar...an overlooked (and rare) model to be sure...make sure you don't dull it's opulence with a bad color choice... Congrats on the 1000th post... R-
