went down to the court house yesterday to buy new lisence plates for the hotrod . the tax and regestration only came to $46 bucks, gotta love it. the girl at the desk then says which plate would i like? so i asked what are my choices? she points to a wall at the end of the room covered with plates. 117 different plates !! how many does your state have? this is not a bitch thread ,just kind of courious.
NV has street rod plates, classic plates, etc - that's what I do....I have enough crap under the hood of these things that I don't need any license plate with a lake on it...or some hokey artwork - If your state does not offer HAMB plates - just get next best thing. I think maybe I'll lobby the governor here for some H.A.M.B. license plates. There's a minimum number that have to be "guaranteed" I think. Guess I'll have to count noses on how many NV HAMBers there are. dj
Here in New Jersey, we have quite a few. The state is thinking about doing away with them and just offering decals to go over the plates instead of making all the special ones. I have "Battleship New Jersey" plates on my OT daily driver Jeep. A portion of the registration costs are donated to take care of the USS New Jersey, our Iowa-class battleship docked at Camden.
60+ However, because of all the red light and speed camera we have, our legislature enacted this jem last year. http://www.phoenixrealestateguy.com/is-your-arizona-license-plate-frame-legal/1636
Yeah, and you have to pay extra every single year to keep them as well. That's the worst part. But, I like the fact you can still do the YOM plates in CA. That's cool. Personally, the rest of the specialty plates have no interest to me, especially any vanity plate.
Pretty crazy...the DMV site for CA shows only 7 choices, not including those for purple heart, POW, and such...117 choices, jeez!
In Virginia we have 38 military specialty plates, 86 for universities and colleges, 86 special interest plates and 40 in the "other" category for a whopping total of 250 and most can be personalized. I am partial to the yellow/blue antique plates and the black/white antique plates. EDIT** - They are always adding new ones to our list. Newest one I that I saw listed was for Robert E. Lee, probably came out this year.
I know that we have a over 100 of them here in GA, But we also have the option to run vintage plates for the year of mfg for the auto. Like mine is a 46 so I found a 46 tag and restored it and as long as I keep the current year tag in the car I can run the other with a little paperwork. I know the others help with good causes.
We have a few in PA. Also if you can get a certain number together they will, or at least used to, make up a specialty plate for your group. A HAMB plate is possible. I don't know if you could get the Street Rod plate laws, no hood, bumpers, fenders for pre 1948, though. Bill
We have 6. The regular plate, a taxi plate, one for a truck, one for a trailer, and a Vanity & dealer. Ice man
