Hello,

As we get older, the prospect of getting what we want seems easier and less worrisome. If it is what we want, it does not hinder our family progress and continues to give us much happiness, then we are both all for it. From the time we were both teenagers, we received what we asked for on a Christmas Wish List. The list, as little kids, was horrendous with stuff that was out of the question, like a real Fire Truck or a Flying Tiger P40 plane.

But, as we got older into our teenage years, stuff from the hot rod world came in handy on our lists. Chrome valve covers, Moon Breathers, better speakers, etc. Things within reach filled out our lists, nicely.

Things started to slow down as we got into our 20 something years and definitely during our struggling years as a couple. So, we were conservative to not create a situation that was not going to be a happy moment one cold December morning.

Clothes took over the choices and that made it simple and easy to fulfill.

So, this leads up to the last years of our retirement. Now, sweatshirts, t shirts, sweaters, jewelry, and nice jackets are our choices for gifts. No more outrageous choices like a 1940 Ford Sedan with a 283 motor and A/C. Perhaps a nice subwoofer will make the grade this year. HO HO HO…

But, a nice custom built 1958 Chevy Impala, two door, station wagon would look great in our small two car garage. Add in a custom Christmas trailer built for 2 plus our granddaughter and little dog… YES! Out in the wild forests or in the desert works for us… The bow pulls out for a patio sun reflecting cover and keeps us safe.

For normal daily driving, a lowered rake would do the styling, just fine.

The scenario moves to the modern era during the pandemic and comes around full circle…No realistic wish list, as we get what we need and want during the year. The no travel vacations being put on hold has created a new type of list. We take care of these choices during the moments when it is safe to have a construction crew come in and rip out our kitchen and complete flooring for some major changes. YRMV
As soon as it is safe, the granddaughter tree will have a new area counters and wall background to come and play for the new season... Stay safe and healthy...
