Customs 12 volt conversion

    Have a 50 merc all original changed to 12 volt without thinking. Overdrive doesn't work what damage did I do and what doI have a fix. Don't know much about it but if it has a selonid probably fryed it. Thanks in advance for info Jim

    I ran a Hudson overdrive on 12v for quite a while, no issues with it....it was a 6v system, converted to 12v.

    you might want to find the shop manual for the car, and follow the troubleshooting procedure for the overdrive. It should tell you what tests to perform, to find what's wrong.

    At least find a wiring diagram for your car, and figure out where the solenoid windings are, and how they're connected, so you can test them for continuity. They're not straightforward, though, so do the research first...
