my buddy just bought a 55 packard..its 12 volt positive ground...we want to change it to negative ground, how do we do it????...thanks,mike
easy, just swap the terminals and re-polarize the generator.the only problem is some of your gauges might not work-george
Starter should be fine. Many gauges might be able to have the wires swapped, some might be OK, just depends on type of gauge/sender combo. Lights don't care about polarity, so you're OK there too.
It's pretty simple, really . .. For complete info, try some of the British car sites -- a lot of brit cars into the 60s used Positive ground. ALso some of the old truck sites, like www.stovebolt.com -- GMC used to use Positive ground too. later, Steve.
I got Fiat gauges in my coupe, they are positive ground. I just wired em opposite and they work fine.
