I guess it "sounds" like it makes since.....I'm assuming then after the procedure you would put acid back in it? But if in doubt...."TRUST ME, IT WORKS"
I have a least six batteries laying around and it would be cool has all heck to get them back up to charge
There probably is some truth to the claim,,there is a battery shop here that sell new and reclaimed batterys. I don't have a clue as to what they do but the refurbished batterys work fine. HRP
In England years ago there was a 'pill' you could drop into a battery that claimed to do the same thing--never worked for me
i had a high school shop teacher claim that you could recondition a battery by completely discharging it and charge it with reverse polarity.that is supose to de-sulfate it. then discharge it and recharge with the correct polarity. i have no idea if that is possible or would work at the O'Reilly where i work they have a machine to test and recondition batteries...i should check into it
That's what they are banking on. IMHO Not enough money to create a furor if it doesn't work. Did the "pecker" extender pills work? Sorry but if it sounds too good to be true.... I'm an admitted cynic and I have saved lots of money over the years. I have a buddy that goes for all the gimmics that come down the pike.
Holy shades of XP66, Batman. That's what was going around in the 60s to do the same thing. Had a cousin who worked for Exide. He said it would work well enough to get it out the door for a while. Never heard of viagra or cialis?
Usually batteries go dead because they short out along the plates at the bottom. On motorcycles,I use to rinse them out a fe wtimes and then fill with acid. It worked.....for a while.
http://www.thebatteryclinic.co.nz/Batteries.html This was a useful site for some info on restoring. I think they are Kiwi's? (NZ) Plates becoming sulfated was the issue, as folks who knew about it explained, in the Materials Lab at school. Epitaxial growth of lead plate "spikes" were mentioned too, as causes of electrical shorts in cells. Don't think I'll part w/any coin on this one.
Two statements, gives me a hint. My new battery costs me less than 60 bucks at walmart, not hundreds........ Next, anytime somebody says TRUST ME, IT WORKS, I discount what they say out of hand................
I believe the powder is EDTA. I have a bottle of it in the garage. It works but not all that great. What does work is pulse charging. If you have batteries you want to save invest in good pulse charger. They do work in almost all cases except if the plates are directly shorted. If the battery is just suffering from sulfate buildup then a pulse charger will work.
Sounds like the s**t they hawked in the 1950's called VX-6;supposed to re-invigorate old batteries.Didn't work then;doubt it has improved over time. Note to self: DO NOT buy anything that has the letters X or Z in the product name.
if something like that worked someone on the HAMB would have already posted a thread about it. you can make up whatever shit you want and sell it to the uninformed. dietary suppliments, weight loss pills, weiner extender lotion, 100MPG carburetor gizmos. saw some battery operated belt people wear around thier waist that builds up your stomach muscles and burns fat at the same time. it must work, I saw it on TV.
Once the paste starts to fall out of the grid (or plates) you are going to need a NEW battery, the lead grid will not hold a charge without oxide paste. And paste gathering in the bottom will short out the battery.
Can't say if it works, but not long ago I saw a morning news show & they said regular aspirin will do the same thing. They were listing all the things aspirin was good for.
Cant fix deterioration, I tried it for years at the junkyard growing up. Some would come back with a rinse and refill. But never for long. I'd put that 15 toward a new batttery.
Pass. It might, it might not, it would depend on the condition of the battery. Granted, it should work on a battery that is only "glossed" over, but there's more wear and tear on the battery than just that. Personally, I'd rather not worry about whether or not my battery is going to work...
For what it's worth heard how you can bring old batteries back to life on a golf cart forum 6 & 12 volt deep cycle batteries the guy said to dump the old acid out fill it with distilled water & charge it this will clear the plates ? the sulfate on plates will be dissolve easier in the distilled water then new acid many guys on the forum said it worked ?? a few didn't have any luck i was going to try it, when i paid $120 for six near new deep cycle batteries they sell for $120 or more for each battery figured this was easier then finding a place to dispose of the acid
