Just my 2 cents but be careful with that old used regulator. Last year my old regulator failed and it took out my generator, boiled the water out of my battery, and the generator almost in flames. All that at 60 mph with a Dodge Ram riding on my tail. I had the shop rebuild my generator and I got a new mechanical regulator matched to it. When I installed it the gennie was charging at 17+ volts. Had to adjust the voltage relay in the regulator by bending the spring tab. That adjustment is sensitive and finnicky but I did get it to 14.1 volts. This adjustment has to be made once the gennie and regulator warm up. For me that was a one mile ride an an 80 degree summer day. The shop did tell me to stay away from the solid state regulators calling them chinese junk. The mechanical regulator was made by a company named "Register" I believe. Made in the USA. A year later running fine. Good luck and take care.
