You are talking Greek here. Call AACA Museum in Hershey, Pa. They have a bunch of busses, many parts busses too.
But just think outside of the box. What a car hauler it could make, with a lounge in the front portion. Now that would seem to make it fit here!
5.9 12 valve cummins, most reliable small diesel ever made. started in the early 80's, in tractors and commercial equipment, put in the dodges in 89, proud to say I have one, millions produced world wide, and # 3 SAE flywheel housings are plentiful. 300+ on my dodge, made 27 trips moving my junk pile to kansas, 600 miles one way. No problems....she's just gettin broke in
Well, Im not busy, so I will ramble some more. 25 years ago, my friend bought a really cool Flexible, older than yours, straight 8 buick power. Some poor guy spent half his life fixin it up to be his retirement dream....then died. My friend bought it, started fixin it up, then at a party one night a drunk fell asleep with a cigarette, and burned it all to death. Enough depressing tales, now Cummins. If you go shopping, theres lots of used motors on the market. Best to stay with one that came out of a vehicle instead of an industrial app, as the governor is different in the pump. Best motors are the 12 valve, up to mid 98, then the 24 valve came in with big electrics, more computer crap we don't need. Dodges, 89-93 had the Bosch VE injector pump. Dodges 94-97+ had the Bosch P7100 pump. Some guys say the P pump is more reliable, and most prefer the P pump if trying to make ridiculous power, either way, the p pump motors will be about a grand higher in price unless you find a deal. used motors...about 2500 to 3500. pay no attention to the milage, some go a million miles without issues. They can also be found in ford mid sized ford trucks from mid 90's on up. I had a 95 cabover, import lookin thing, but made here in the states, had the P pump and a 6 spd fuller trans. Ford owns a big chunk of Cummins. Mid size Freightliners too. There's a guy in southern MN on MPLS craigslist all the time with motors and dodge stuff. Its kind of a cult...try it, you'll like it!
For a re power, I would think bigger. You need loads of torque to get that thing moving. Think of it as a med duty truck. Loaded. Back in the '90's I knew a guy with one of those busses converted to a coach, sweet ride. It had a 350 Cummins in it. No problems with hills or highway speeds!
I had a ‘97 for a short time. Previous owner moderately modded the pump and transmission. It was a blast to drive and got good mileage. Too bad the rest of the truck was a huge POS. I was able to have some fun with it and then flip it for a modest profit. One very important thing is to make sure the killer dowel pin is taken care of. This small item in the front timing area can grenade the engine if it ever works loose.
yes, I have to remind people I bought a Cummins, it just came with a Dodge. There is a youtube guy, Zip ties and bias plys, he buys wrecks just for the motors, and he call the Dodges "shipping crates".
