I've used 14" on the front an 15" on rear for a very long time. I was spoiled by the low cost of 14" tires by the 70s to about 2015,when they started getting hard to find. My Alum Slots, 14" front rims are redrilled to fit 1948 hubs.
I have six 14" 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern Aluminum slot mags. Two of them I have run on the front of my '40 Tudor for years. I used to run Bucron tires on the back of my '61 Falcon with a wild 312 Y block in it with 4.27 rear gears in high school. Ate a lot of Chevys in it's day! Dave
14” wheels are actually very traditional, believe it or not. Late 50’s, all through the 60’s and 70’s 14 inch very common.
