    As a friend told me.....change the cam:D

  3. yep on the cam
the closer to stock the better except for exhaust porting works OK

a stock motor blown is best also dish tops seem to be closer to what you want:D

customer split one motor in 1/2 and the other was twisted so had to pry the heads off the studs
so a 4/71 can do some damage to a 350 but the ride was wild as long as it lasted

It would be sweet to run e85 on a blower motor. 2 mpg, but sweet.

  6. To get maximun efficiency from the blower, you have to swap out your current cam. You will need a cam with a wide lobe center, and a 114 works great on the street. As far as pistons, forged is always best with a power adder like a blower, turbo, or nitrous. You can run your stock pistons, but you have crank down the boost drastically, and when you do, you're not really taking advantage of what the blower can do for you. Those B&M/Weiand little blowers were designed for mild applications, and you can find a few different blower pulley sizes to adjust the boost.

If I decipher your combo correctly, you have a 307 (283 bore, 327 crank). Too bad it wasn't a 327, because a 142 blower on a 327 with the right parts would be a whole lot of fun.

If I'm going to run a blower, I want everything else in the engine designed to work with it. That means the proper cam, pistons, heads, and carb(s). You will notice a small power increase on your 307 if you run most of the parts you currently have, but eventually, you'll want more power. It's human nature.

thanks for all the great info guys ,might want to think about a 327 i have for the blower. be easy to build it and just swap out rather than down time to replace everything in the 283.

Get the timing right and cast pistons will hold up.....you should be able to get away with 7 to 8 pounds...and make sure fuel pressure is good too....if running a aeromotive boost reference regulator, make sure you plumb it correctly....lol ...dont ask me how i know this....:D
