Trying to maintain a fairly stock appearance. current front wheels have 50 Ford caps (caps clip over outside style nubs), rear caps are bolted on to match Looking for some steel wheels that I can put 1941 Ford hubcaps on. Something I maybe can pickup in a wrecking yard or at a swap meet. Looked at all the after market guys and just don't want to pull the trigger on $100 a piece, or more, steel wheels I need 15" wheels that will fit within the fenders of a 1941 Ford 1/2 ton pickup with a 5 x 4.5" bolt pattern. Would love to do some big and littles, truck is currently running 205/70/R15 tires. Would like to run something bigger in the back, so something with the correct offset? (Currently have a slightly bigger set of rims for the back with 235s, but they rub the bed side.) Anyone running a combination they can recommend? Any thoughts? Thanks,
The standard answer is use International Harvester wheels but they are probably a whole lot harder to come by than those aftermarket ones you think are too expensive.
I think the problem you are going to find is the 4.5" BC. By the time Ford went to the smaller BC, they had dropped the smaller '41 style cap. The later F100's that used that cap still had the 5.5 BC. And IIRC all the International's that had the 4.5 BC and would accept the cap were all 16". You may be forced to buy new if you really want a 15" that used the '41 cap.
I got a set from a late 90s Ford crown vic. The tires were big but I think they're 225/75/15 with a 5x 4.5" bolt pattern. Sent from my moto z4 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have 15's on my 40. Vintage wheels from Wheel Smith and you can't tell them from originals. 4.5 BP and they take 40-48 hubcaps.
My '40 has 15 X 8, with dual pattern, they are aftermarket. With a truck as nice as yours, don't skimp, get the proper ones.
If we ever get back to having regular swap meets- the aftermarket wheels you desire turn up often in the second hand market. I have purchased them as low as $15 apiece when the vendor didn’t know what size they were... hint- always carry a tape measure when you are hunting.
