Guys I tried a search before posting, but didn't find what i was looking for. I have a 49 chevy coupe all stock soon to be dropped and it has 15" steels on it. I would like to go bigger like this
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WVI-62-7734458/ but I was wanting to see some pictures of larger steel wheels on these body of cars. I would also like to know how wide of rims i can go on a stock set up keeping in mind that it will be lowered. Any links to some pictures would be much appreciated.

I put 16X8 under my 52 Customline. Don't have a pic right now, but they look 'right' to me and fill the wheel wells nicely. They are a ***** to get under the fender lip in the back, but they do go with the stock bumper jack pulling stuff sideways the way it does. These wheels came of a cop car in the salvage yard and a Mercury full size sedan, both about 1999. Just drove it around and it turns lock to lock at stock ride height with no rubbing on the fenders either.

I figured the bodies are about the same size as the new ones and, except for tracking, are pretty much similar in all other dimensions. If I can get a pic later, I will post it.

I wouldn't go any bigger than 16. Otherwise you are looking at a set of wheels with a car on top of them. Just my opinion. The reason I wanted to see if they fit is because I think 16 would look better on American Racing 5 spokes with black walls, which is what I will get when I am a little more roadworthy.

Thank you. I was thinking 16" also. I am not going with wide whites so I can stand to go with more rim and less sidewall. Thanks for the tip on the cop 16's I was trying to think of what later model cars might have similar offset and 4.75 lug with the same back spacing. Pic when you get a chance would be great!

More rim and less sidewall and no WW sounds a lot like a pro tourer look, not really the right body style i'd say.

More tire, less wheel looks better to me. I would stick with 15's.

Well the car is black and the rim will be black with no rings. I am jut going to put the "Police style" dog dih on the middle. I don't know if there is a name for that look, i just want it to look like a clean police/shine runner look and i was thinking more rim might fit my taste. That i why I was wanting to see ome pics. i like the look that Orange52 posted a pic of. Not stuck on the idea just looking for some info/pics to make a decision on. Thanks!

Please do not go larger than 16". I would stick with 15" myself but I am stuck in the old days when there were not large rims, small tires. Call me strange but to me that looks the best then, now and always.

Had to look all over for my damn cable. I found the two aluminum ones on a trip for other parts, I got the steel fronts when I was helping my neighbor out. I am wearing 225/60R16 which is very close to the same (height) tires that she rolled in with. I was thinking centers and beauty rings but the more I think about it, the more I think I was right the first time wanting AE Torque thrusts and black walls. Excuse the car, first stages of getting her on the road...

Two big ones to look at the dimensions. Save these files if you want them, because I have to arrange my flickr account and they are going to be moved by next week. Again, I made sure the tire height was the same and the only reason those rear wheels are a ***** are because of the built in skirts. I'm getting a 8.8 narrowed next weekend so they will fit a little better. With the Aerostar front springs, my nose will quit bleeding and the stance should be close to level. My rear springs are worse than shot, but I like where it sits right now. I might take a few leaves out and put air shocks on it, just to get it to sit the same.

Anyway, hope this info helps you. I find the 16" rear wheels fit the well very nicely. They aren't too imposing and, if you can imagine, AR spokes in there would look good. As for the front, well, they fit and if the nose was about 3" lower it would look good. Maybe you can have the photoshop guys put beauty rings and centers on the front and paste them onto your car?

    Hope that helps.
