Just bought a set off wires for my coupe. Layed them down and one is 41/2 inches wide. The rest are 4". It's original.I thought they were all 4". Are there many 41/2s around? Am I any chance of finding one or are they rare as? I'm in Australia to probably make it more dificult.

Is this for a resto? If not you'll need JJ safety rims in any case.

They are a lot rarer than the 4 ". 40 years agoI dug through a pile of wire wheels as big as a bus and found 7 4"wide and 2 41/2"wide that were good enough to use. The 4 1/2" are on the rear of my A.

Yeah it looks good. See if a 4/12 turns up so I can do the same. What tyres you running?

The 4 1/2 inch Kelsey Hayes wire wheels are not rare; they are very rare. I have a pair on the back of my 1929 roadster with 9:00 x 16 Firestone dirt track tires mounted on them. I was like you and bought a set of Kelsey Hayes wires thinking they were all 4 inches in width. I laid the set on the floor and discovered one wheel was 4 1/2 inches in width. I finally found another 4 1/2 inch wheel at the fall Hershey swap meet many years later.

Yeah I had a feeling they are rare. If I can't get a 41/2 Il'l just run 4's. That's all I ever thought there was.:)
