    Good afternoon,

Im working on my grandpas 1932 ford and was wondering what would be an appropriate modern tire size similar to 165SR15 m+s tires? They are lifesaver GT4s and I do not see a dot year so I imagine they are pretty old.

These are the front tires and the wheels are 1939-1940 style ford hydraulic brakes.

Back tires seem more modern and appear to be from 2008, based on dot code, and are p255/70r15 100s m+s

I have gotten Verstaten (sp) tires in that size from Coker and also Pirelli had that size. I think it was VW bug tire, that was 14 years ago.

165/85R15 is the common replacement for them.

Another vote for Michelin 165R15 XZX radials I've used them in various sizes on the front of my 32 Fords for many years without a problem.

If you have 2008 tires they need replacing also.

Thank you all for the information.

Yeah I agree on 2008 tires needing replacement too…

I like the Michelin XZX’s, I’ll have to see if I can get some similar/matching brand/style for the back.

I ordered the Michelins for front and some new bfgoodrich for the back too.

thank you all for your help.

now I just got to solve my issue of flathead backfiring through the exhaust when accelerating… I’ll check the forums. It’s a new “feature”… I didn’t change anything. Gas is probably a year old, even with stable fuel additives, I’ll probably drain and replace before I tear into timing

Michelin and BFG Great combination. Probably ran this combo on at least a dozen 32's over the years. Have that combo on my just finished deuce highboy sedan. ( check pewsplace.com for pictures.)

As has been said, stock 60’s VW bug size. You can still get them in almost any brand.

Prior to the net you’d have to turn your head upside down like a parrot and read the side wall.
