I think more then a few of the really nice suede black "rat rods" used to have a life as a really kolorfull kustom and the owners just painted them suede/flat black to fit in with the newest trend. It is pretty obvious when the frames/engine bay/door jams and inside of the cars are decked out/painted colorfull.
Yeah, I decided to go. It wasnt bad but there were waaaaaaay fewer cars that I was interested in this year. It seems like lots of guys decided to stay home. I got a little cooked as usual but I actually found some good stuff at the swapmeet which was cool...............I almost never find anything at swapmeets.
sgtlethargic & lotus, Great coverage with the loads pics, thanks. It looks like it was a great weekend. LSM
Thirty five or six, channeled with suicide doors and a '37 truck grille. Definately different!! Alot of work for sure.
Wow, Thanks for the great pics!! Figure some SoCal guys did not make it up because of new Goodguys Show in Costa Mesa (Orange County).
yeah there definitely was a shortage in cars/club attendance...the burbank choppers, the shifters, ect. were all MIA. the autoholics and cut outs held it down pretty solid though....real nice cars.
I would've loved to had made it over, but we're still trying to recuperate financially after moving from the valley. I'll definitely make it over for the Reunion in October though. Great pics guys! Looks like there were quite a few cars I don't remember seeing in Bakersfield before. That flamed Buick is bitchin'! -Troy
hell yeah troy, missed seein you.had a cold one waiting.i'll deff have a few on ice for you at reunion.i had a blast, talkin to groucho, zombie, dave, hangin with my dad and uncle, hangin out with the captain "all" day. -Jimmy-
Hey Lotus---thought my computer took a shit--color went to hell---then saw you live it Taft--then I remembered ,they haven't got color film there yet! HAHA Not really---love Taft--used to ride my bike up that way all the time---great small town. The B&W PICS ARE THE BEST!--kinda like a 50's magazine coverage.
Track was in great shape. The pits were packed. AND not a lot of oil downs! Always a plus! All in all I had a blast and thought it was a great turn out from the last couple of years. Glad I put my 55 in the grove before it filled up, those cars down the middle of the vendors was crazy, Sure the CHRR is better but they dont offer a Hot Rod class so us 'little guys' are sol for that meet.
