Please forgive me if the thread on wire wheels some time back would place this inquiry into a repeat thread but although the techniques appear similar, there are some metallurgy questions I wondered if someone has dealt with. I have (5) 36 Ford Artillery wheels and rims intact. Due to the almost 10 bolt pattern, I was contemplating removing the lug holes via water jet in a circle and develop donor centers with compatible lug patterns for contemporary rotors and axles. I wanted to turn the outside weld smooth and remove the rivets from each spoke and find a suitable 17 wide wheels (2) for the rear to run a 10 tire. While everything is split I want to drill the spoke rivets for the two back sets and have all 5 sets chromed. The 5th is for the stock kit cover on the rear of my 36. I wanted to shorten the original hub covers which are very tall to cover the circus tent stock drums and then finish with covers with small repro V8 caps. Yes I will use blackwalls. My primary concern is should any of the pieces be subjected a process to strengthen the rims and new centers and same for the wider rims. Several repro wheel manufactures make 15" and Vintiques sells sets with chrome wheels but the center rims are plain. I really like only a few sets of alloy wheels made and they don't look good on the spare kit.
Kep, You're on the intro page. Read the sticky at the top, do a proper intro, and then post your questions on the general discussion board. Good luck and welcome from Michigan.
