I found a nice set of new 185/75R15 M/H Racemasters. They match up well with the pattern of my rears however they call for a 5" wheel. I have a 7" wheel. How bad will they bulge on the sidewall?

Is there any hope in this aspect ratio to mount to the 7" wheel? I need a little more engine clearance in the front oil pan is a little low.

Wheel cant change... just purchased new.

    Thanks

From what I've been reading in the tuner world its not a huge stretch. I was just hoping to get a second opinion before buying tires I can't return.

I'd check with the tire store.

I've seen 205/75/15s run on as much as a 10" wheel before. It's not 100% the most pretty thing in the world, but they did work and handle okay. the only thing was they looked funny due to having the wheel wider than the tire tread.

All you'll need if they won't easily inflate on a tire machine is a 'Cheetah' tank. I've used one of these and OMG are they amazing for spreading a narrow or tire that's been flattened by storage out on a rim.

It has been done. It will be done again. We've got a '65 Impala and a '66 Impala in the shop, right now, with that setup, on each.

Go for it. You might have to shop around for tire stores that will do it, though.

    Gonna look like a lowrider.

Haha luckily I'll be mounting them at a friends shop so It shouldn't be a huge deal. I'm pretty sure I mounted some 205's on a 10" wheel before... talk about low rider.

Well, Once I hear back from M&H I'll make up my mind.

    Thanks for the input guys.
