Well, as you recall, exactly 8 days ago I primed the frame of my '31 coupe beginning the assembly process to attempt to get to the Lonestar Roundup in Austin. The progress is steady, and good so far. I will attach the latest pics of the frame including a teaser of the body.

    Latest progress
    - Installed 11" clutch kit to resurfaced flywheel
    - Blasted and painted the backing plates
    - Rebuilt the front brakes
    - Installed spindles, backing plates, shoes, wheel cylinders
    - Routed and assembled all brkae lines and fittings
    - Installed rear drums
    - Bought old military surpluss headlilghts from Crease. He cleaned them up, and I painted them about 30 minutes ago.

We would have installed the engine and transmission, but I hit a small snag with my hydraulic throwout bearing. Either my throwout bearing is too long (should be the one for stock, but have to find out Monday), or I have the "long clutch finger" pressure plate (will also find out Monday). Shouldn't be too hard to figure out, but if anyone knows the answer off the top of their head, lay it no me. In short, the distance from the face of the bearing to the face of the tranny is 1/4" longer than the distance from the face of the bell housing to the face of the clutch fingers. These distances should be the same. Kits include shims if the engine side is longer, but when it is the other way around, there is a problem.

Ok, enough of that. here are the pics.

19 days left, will I make it....?

And the teaser pic of the body. Like I said before, I will not do anything but rub it down with oil for th Roundup trip. I have no time to do anything else. It is chopped 3 inches, and channelled the full height of the A frame. The floor is in, and there are 4 patch panels that have been welded in, but not much else.

Sorry about the big red engine hoist in the way. Was too lazy to move it.

    Blane,
Thrashing on a 29 modified for the Roundup myself. But unfortunately my shop is 300 miles away, so I'm not at all sure I'm gonna make it. Give me a call if you need another set of hands between now and then....I'll be glad to help out. My cell is 210-884-7372.

Thank you for the offer. I'll let you know as time nears. Crease has been very giving of his time, but as we get ready to mount the body, I may need a few more hands. He and I have moved this body many times by ourselves, but it isn't so easy, and not I do not just want to throw it on that frame.

Any pics of your '29? I am about 5 minutes away from you in Stone Oak. Just south of Bulverde.

Me being 6'2", and the car already chopped 3" and channeled 5", I would have to sell it to a circus midget. The look is cool, but there would have to be a sunroof or something for me stick my head through enough to see.

All I know is that now my garage door is too short to get into the kitchen, and I have an engine hoist that might be able to hold an 1/18" scale engine now. Any more modifications and I may have to buy all new tools, home, and project...lol
