I need one, too...for my Ford flathead "6" powered Ford 8N tractor. A clean, rebuildable core would be ideal. Thanks.

I sold that 223 jeff, but I still have the carb off of it. I have a few carbs sitting around though. I'll post some pics and you guys can probably tell me what they are. I dont really know carbs too well. I will try to get pics tomorrow as I am at work untill 11 everynight.

If Roach doesn't want it, sircampsalot2, I'll speak for it. If he does, I'll get with dragonknucks for his. Either way, my tractor will be much better. The one that's on it now has a badly distorted float bowl - overtightened more than once by previous owners, I'd guess - and leaks onto the exhaust manifold. The sooner the better. PM me, okay.

Thanks, Roach. Actually I use the Funk-converted 8N to mow my pasture with a 5' shreader. I ran the shreader behind a 4-banger Ford 8N for a year or so, but the small motor just didn't get the job done when the gr*** was tall and wet, so I moved up to the Funk. It ain't pretty, but when it's running right, this baby get's the job done!

Missy, where did you located the Funk setup? I've got a tired 8N I'd like to put a small Y-Block in.

I've had two Funks, the first I bought in Colorado and trailered back to Texas with my son and my dog...in a standard cab pickup. The second Funk, the one I have now, I found in Houston. The first one had a bad motor, but I was able to trade it for the second one...with a little boot, of course.

(This is my first Funk, with the I-beam frame section. Hauled it back from Colorado. Traded it off when I discovered the motor was sick. Besides, I really wanted one with a cast iron oil pan. Much stronger...but man, does it hold a lot of oil. Like 9 quarts!)

Funks came in kit form, most were ***embled by the local Ford Tractor dealer on new tractors, but some were sold to individuals as well. The earlier ones used an I-beam frame section to connect the front suspension to the rear suspension. My first Funk was one of these.

The later ones, like the one I have now, use a cast-iron engine oil pan to hold the tractor together, using the industrial 6 cylinder engine as a structural member in the same way the original 4 cylinder was used. I think the later ones are the best.

Funk also made kits to adapt flathead V8 engines to N-series tractors as well. These are really cool, but I think the 6 makes a better tractor motor.

I will be at the legendary "Pate Swap Meet" for the rest of the week, but will photo and post my Funk when I can get to it. As I mentioned, mine's not pretty but it sure gets the job done!

Never heard of or seen a Funk. Have run lots of 8N, 9N, Jubilee etc, but maybe they never got to Canada.

Hey Eric, what year is that tractor in the pic?

I'm by no means expert on them but thought the 9Ns had large hole rear wheel centers & 3 speed transmissions, 8Ns small rear wheel centers & 4 speed trans.

I had a '46 many years ago and was told it was a 9N, seems I checked the serial # and confirmed it was. It looked nearly identical yours in the pic except the frame. It had a front mounted distributor. Seems someone told me the 2Ns were pre-WWII and not much different from the later 9Ns.

No big deal, but was just wondering if anyone knows how to tell 'em apart?

I'm no expert, Ron, and I don't know the year of the tractor in the photo. I only had it a short time. The one I have now is a '50 I think. I ran the number at one time, but I got old-timer's disease and can't remember... Who are you again...?

I'm pretty sure that's what the first Funk had on it...the one in the photo above. I've got a rebuild kit that I bought for it. Anybody need it?

The gl*** bowl one is what I need, but I think I'm getting one from sircampsalot. Perhaps this one would be right for Roach. If he doesn't want this one I can use it for parts. PM me if it's available. Thanks
