0820141949.jpg new.jpg 0820141950.jpg Hauled a load of scrap to the local salvage yard and saw this sitting in the weeds. Thought about it all night and next day I went back and bought it - I just thought it was unusual and cool as heck . Now sits proudly on my front lawn. The first picture shows something behind each front wheel and I have no idea what it is. Looks like a belt deal is rolled up in it. Has writing on it that I cant make out. Any ideas?

They appear to be Gabriel snubbers. If you google on that, some information comes up - they were sort of an early shock absorber.

  3. Those WERE shock absorbers. They worked by restricting rebound, though they did not/could not offer any compression damping. Still, half really is better than none.

Yep - thats exactly what they look like Stuart. Thought they might be some sort of friction shock but not like anything I had ever seen. Thank you! Yea Cosmo , half definitely better than none!
