    Cool project.

A bit off topic but I'll ask anyway; In your last post, is that a trunk lid for an Opel 1900 wagon hanging on the wall?

Thanks. No sir, that's from a Chevy Vega Wagon.

In my humble opinion, the Dodge cowl & windshield is the best looking of the early cars. Checkout a movie called “The Lively Set”. That bucket was built using a Dodge cowl. Also, checkout Ed Roth’s OutLaw and its cowl & windshield. IMG_2034.jpeg

I agree! Looks like '18 to me. The curved angle iron rear fender mounts is one clue. A year or two either way is possible too.
W/S post leaned back starting in 1920. Doors and hinges changed in 1920 as well.

I'm not the fastest turtle on the log, but I eked out some time to get side two tacked in.

Also started taking the axle apart. She's a little tight, but some magic elixir will help.
Poured half a jar of poor man's Kroil into the spindle and let 'er eat. DS came right apart, but I think due to not having an brake hardware inside.

I'm hoping my new shift makes finding time a little easier. I reckon I'll sleep when I'm dead.

Well, the new shift sucks. Something between jet lag and never knowing what day it is sort of sucks. Maybe 44 years of mostly day shift on a normal Mon-Fri schedule has made a wuss out of me.

Anywho, here's a bit of an update.

I decided to stop clutching pearls and terminate the body with the piece I already had. I'm guess this is never going to be a Rodder's Journal feature car, I am not a body man, and this is not a pristine car to start with...so here it is.

Messing around with the turtle deck height. If I Z the frame, it will move it up around 3", unless I narrow the rear of the frame....etc

The last two pics are my new and improved front spring mount. We'll see how everything sits once it has weight and a full spring pack mounted up. Nothing is forever.

    Second awkward post.

Got these puppies out with a heat wrench. Waiting on new ones from Dennis Carpenter.

My neighbor gave me his rims and tires since he replaced them on his '35 Ford. I mounted the tires on the rims I'm using.

Then I stuck the axle about where I think it's gonna be. It's sitting pretty high, but, in memory of Billy Coates, I'll lower it a little bit later. Don't want any basketballs rolling under it.

Probably the coolest thing that's happened is getting a true running '47 59AB for pretty cheap. It came with a side shift trans, radiator, original carb and a few other things. I'm gonna get it running and tuned on the "custom dog crap welded" engine stand, then mate it up with a '37 trans I have and plug it in, after I mock the rear end. Then I can work on ride height.

    That's it for now.
