Nice catalogue. If only the prices stayed the same!

Block still receiving its multiple cuts.
Notice the rust/ pitting in number one. This overbore will get rid of that but if I went for smaller pistons I would have had to have liners fitted.

I straightened out the Citroen shell, really can't dig that tapered look, and found a very nice condition honeycomb radiator to fit.
Really like the 'beak' look. My very own Blitzen Benz. Well not really
Only trouble is I'm a couple of inches short of sitting on the ch***is rails so not sure how it will work out. Maybe just too narrow but we will see.

  4. Andrew, taking out the taper looks great! If you build a crossmember/mount for the radiator and shell, then make some hood shelves for the frame rails (even if you don't use a hood or hood sides), you'll be just fine!

Great thread !! I would like to hijack and ask a dumb question.......I have not found a copy of John Gerber's book yet.......we actually raced against his son Jim on the dirt tracks in the Davenport Iowa area in the late 1960's/early 1970's. I have one complete 1928 Chev engine and another partial engine from local farm auctions. I would like to maybe build a "speedster". Why was the Model T frame used with the 1928 Chev engine instead of building the race car using the original 1928 Chevrolet frame, transmission, front and rear axle ?
    Thanks
    Allan

    Sorted out the rear axle
Made up a crossmember for the super awsome fuel tank. I would like to mount it in the engine bay by not sure a pressurised petrol tank under the bonnet would be the best idea...

Picked up a 28 grill shell which I may use. Really undecided on radiator choice

I never want to be a hi-jacker......but you made me do it......you are 100% guilty for what I have done !!
I had picked up two basket case 1928 Chevrolet 4cyl. engines at a farm sale last summer. Just this past weekend I was able to score two more engines at a farm sale as well as a 19?? rolling ch***is. I hope to get it all picked up in the next 30 days and then ???
Thanks again for bringing us along on your project.

Keeping the firewall will mean major modifications to snug the engine in. Even more drastic to fit the Oldsmobile head
Same old thing. A bit of progress throws up another list of jobs

The Citron radiator/grill shell is more unique that the Model A shell. Would be nice if you could make it work.

Agreed. I just don't know what body I will run yet. Single seat and Citroen rad or '25 roadster body with stock rad but yes the A radiator will be put aside I think

I just moved whole body back 4 inches similar to Mr Model T's build. My three port fits nicely.

Of course. No wheel arches in the 25 so no bother. Good shout
Do you run with a bonnet? If so did you make one? Or just slide the rad back a bit

Kume. Can you post up a shot of your car? Have you got a build thread? Was wondering how things went with your 3-port. Valves, rockers etc.

I 'waited' years to find a 3-port. Now I have 3 of them on the boat over.

I am using a model a bonnet which is 4 inches longer than a t . Just a bit of fettling to make it fit . You will need to move rocker pivot on the olds head. Check out my build thread and mr model t thread plus chev 4 thread, herb etc. Everything there.

Finally got around to hacking away at the C4 to mate it up to the T hogshead.
Surprisingly it's the first part that has been irreversibly modified.

Trying to keep the cutting and welding to a minimum

It fits the T pan a treat

Very Gerberesque :D. SU's look great too. Get some br*** tops for them and a BMC manifold. I see we have the same problem with the top tank.

Ha! Yeah. I have mocked up several rad options but keep coming back to the T. Just love the shape.
Pretty sure we will need to reduce the tank size just to get some breathing space in there.
I will get some Br*** tops for sure but I may leave my spacer/stubs and see how she runs.

  24. Nicely done! It'll be interesting to see how the SU's work out- Gerber mounted his carbs right on the head without a cross tube, too :D!

The ram pies are way to big but has anyone tried buying original aluminium trumpets for SUs? They fetch an absolute fortune
I'm over carbing for sure but twin side draughs? I can't help it.

  26. From what I understand, it's hard to over carb with SU's

Fitted br*** carb dampers under instructions from Kume.
Going to use my beloved br*** tank, probably oil for the rockers. Pointless but it's such an awesome period tank.

Just trying to shoe-horn the column past the carb

  28. Andrew,
I really like the idea of the tank for oiling- with as much oil as you'll be losing out of the valvetrain, you'll be happy you added it! Looking at the last pic, will you have enough room for the 3 port head, or are you going to modify the firewall?

Yes I'm going to cut the firewall for the 3-port. I think I'm right in thinking the 2 heads have the same intake port spacing (?) so my current mocking-up is not in vain.
With the tank I think I will have a copper tube running over the rockers with a few holes and a tap on the tank for some periodic dripping. I did consider a hand pump and pressure gauge in the dash but that maybe just one step too far...
