does anyone know what a 1926 es*** might fit on for a newer frame i measured a ford ranger and wheel base was perfect but fram is 5 inches wider so i m wondering if anyone knows what i can use like a dokata or something trying to do this low cost but still keep the car looking as orig**** with updated ride features??/ thanks dwayne
What's wrong with the current frame? I don't believe you are going to find anything it just sits on and works.
Just say NO to frame swaps. NEVER a good idea unless you are into ruining the value and character of old cars.
"Keep it looking as original" & "Ranger frame" does not compute...does not compute...buzzzzzzzz...snap snap...whirrrrrrrrr...boom.
Another vote for keeping the original frame. A late-model frame swap "might" work under a late 40's or 50's era vehicle, but never under an early model car.
Our 28 es*** has a very strong frame. I do not think you will find one any better. We put a 50ts chev pickup front axle in the 28 works great.
ok thats what i thought anyone know what i might use for a front end thats more updated so i can at least get disk brakes without spending 1500 bucks the rear is no issue at all i can get an updated rear and use on the orig**** frame thanks for the help
you can put disk breaks on a dropped axle. many people sell them. I got a 4 inch dropped axle with disk brakes, calipers, power steering and all the linkage for 400 bucks. keep looking its out there. ( bell, speedway) frame swap and looking original only works if the car is full fendered. but even then those that know, KNOW
You cannot put a late frame under an early car and end up with something that looks stock. If you center the front wheels under the fenders, where they belong, the radiator ends up sitting in front of the tires, Looks awkward and stupid
It will handle fine if you just replace worn parts. If you want disk brakes and "updated handling" buy a new car. Trust me you will regret "updating". I know because I did this myself.
