1926 Model T Touring -All Steel- 1 of 1 - Autorama Detroit 1st Place Winner

This is an all-steel, original 1926 Model T Ford Touring remarkably preserved after being stored indoors for 45 years. Body, doors, fenders and radiator shell are restored originals. Minor rust repair consisted of only a small patch panel between the front and rear doors. Hood, running boards and splash aprons were custom fabricated three inches longer than stock to eliminate a firewall setback. The custom-built firewall is removable to gain access to the rear of the engine. The windshield frame is chopped 1.5 inches with a non-folding custom top fabricated from steel tube and aluminum sheet then upholstered inside and out. The undercarriage is PPG black single stage paint with PPG base/clear on the body and fenders.

The car sits on a custom fabricated square tube frame using Model A dimensions and a three-inch longer wheelbase. The Chrome front axle has a six-inch drop, disc brakes, and MG lever shocks. Cross steering is via a Vega box. The front axle is mounted on a Model A transverse spring using Model A radius rods and Panhard bar. The rear-axle is a first-generation Bronco nine-inch Ford with drum brakes. The axle is mounted on a custom made Model T humpback spring, 1936 Ford radius rods, and tube shocks. The rear cross member is vertically adjustable.

The car is powered by a DOHC 6 cyl. engine, mated to a new C-5 auto transmission via a custom adaptor. This high output, high revving six-cylinder runs smoothly and remains cool.

The overstuffed interior is very comfortable. The front seat has been moved back approx. 3" for extended leg room! The fabric is white pearl-esc, marine-grade Naugahyde. The roof is covered in bright white haartz cloth convertible top material. The headliner is 1964 Chevy perforated white. Interior woodwork is solid oak throughout. Car was built and assembled at home by an experienced owner/builder and has won multiple show awards. It has traveled less than 1,500 miles since completion.
