  1. Everything looks great John. I still have to figure out my window mechanism mounting. Yours looks great, clean and simple!

Looking great! You are a glutton for punishment with the early Chevy builds. I'm on my 2nd with the '29.(the first was a '34 3-window). I would like to turn mine into a sedan delivery, but the kids would not be able to see out!

Just put dark tinted window on the rear sides, and make it into a rear door flower car like they had back in the day. The kids could see out using jump seats and you could have your delivery. I am going to build a 26 buick flower car next.

I ordered a radiator and found out even with a 5 inch firewall set back, I did not have enough room for a fan , damn short 4 cylinder 27 chevy hoods. I decided the only option to correct this OOOPS, was to stretch the previously modified 29 chevy grille shell by about 2 inches and hope it wont look too bad, all in all it came out pretty good and it gives it a truck look, so I continued on and finished up the lower steel work on the shell. now I can make my radiator mounts, and modify my headlight bar.

John, Love the progress on your '27 to make room for a fan. I am not a big fan (no pun intended . . . .) of electric fans but may be you only option. I much prefer a belt driven fan.

Well I got the radiator mounted, it is a 32 ford style cut down 5 inches. I used some old body structure mounts from the 27 for the lower mount fabrication, and a 33 chevy interior grille support modified for the upper mount. I guess I am a recycler after all. I have 2 inches exactly for a fan, and it will have to be electric other wise the lower radiator hose will have to be sacrificed on every startup :( I still have a 16th inch gap for a grille insert up front this will hide and protect the aluminum radiator a little bit.

Just cut a small notch in the radiator hose...use JB Weld, fiberglas bondo, black silicone or that black 3M stuff in a tube...you're sure going to a lot of work for an old car...!!!

After I got the radiator mounted. I decided to figure out the guage area of the dash. This car will have ac and heat cuz I like to be comfortable. And there is not much room under the dash for the ac unit, and the back side of the guages in the same space. I made a guage holder out of 18 guage steel, and wrapped it with a 1 inch steel band welded from the inside and then ground the outside edge. This will cover the old guage holes and pull the guages out far enough to clear the ac unit.

Nice shape and it flows with the rest of the dash.

Thanks. It has been one of my favorites.

Thanks. I like posting the updates. It gives me a reason to keep working on it, and fires me up.

Thanks. the dashes on these cars are so flat in some areas, sometimes they need a little customizing. Within reason of course

I wanted to run a mechanical fan but the space did not allow for it, so electric will be the ticket. Thanks

Well I decided the mechanical fan just wont work, but a 16 inch electric will.:( I had exactly 2 inches from the radiator to the waterpump pully bolts, but I needed a shroud of some sorts, and a way to mount the fan to the radiator, in building the shroud I lost 1/2 inch of space. To get the 1/2 inch back, I moved the grille forward 1/2 inch and moved the hood forward, along with the aluminum belt line trim on the cowl. It's tight but I think it will work.

John, Car is coming along great. Looking forward to your progress to getting this rod on the Highway. Being in Colorado, hope you and the '27 make several fishing trips.

Thanks guys. I am gonna take this car along on some fishing trips. Been kinda side lined on the 27 because of another car commitment, but hope to be back on it soon.

Jim We will find some fenders for ya.

I haven't given up on this summer yet. If I can get the 28 body back on it's ch***is, then I will have room to blow the 27 apart for it's final push and hopefully get er done before the world ends.

Looks like it's coming together nicely. That gauge holder is cool and looks like it'll do just what you need it to. So when you gonna be driving this thing, it sure has taken long enough ;)

C/mon John, that's about as non-committal as you can get...

I sure get tired of you showing up at every event in that rat-trap of a truck you got...what's it been now, three years since you've had a rod on the road...???

    It's time...quit milkin' it...!!!
