I'm 74 now and I remember the older guys who would be in their middle 80's called stripped down cars, Gowjobs. This preceded Hot rod. I've had some of the older guys say that's a pretty Gowjob you got there when looking at my Track Roadster. Alot of people just called them strip downs.

First off, that car is awesome. It would be hard to get more old timey than that one right there boys.

I beleive it is a contraction of sorts: It did originate from the lakes/'30's.

Think of it like you would say, " That car looks like it can really goooo..... With an extended long "o" sound."

Since this was pre-texting days, it became said like "Gow".

That is how some old timer explained it to me.

Of course, he could be completely full of shit.

If that car ever gets lower than no.2 on my favorite HAMB car list I want some one to slap me upside the head. It's been no.1 for most of time I've been here. Ocassionally there is something that temporarily catches my eye but this one always crawls back to the top.
If you EVER decide to sell it and don't call/PM me I'll be very disappointed.

Don't look any further. This is what a Hot Rod is!

Gow jobs were the cut down ones and when they souped them up they said that they dinged it up.

I think that is one of the best looking hot rods I have ever seen. I have been wanting to build that exact car for the last few years.
