Well this winter has been productive!

To start things off I ended up scoring an Edmunds Custom 2x2 manifold locally. @Dynaflash_8 found it for me while surfing marketplace. he ended up seeing it in a box in the background of a photo of BBC blower setup and asked the guy if the manifold was for sale. Long story short we drove and hour to get it. You don't see the 2x2 manifolds for the 23" Mopar's that often. It had both bolt hole tabs broken off and needed a clean up, but I was up for it. Had the corners welded then I drilled and refaced the gasket surface and it was ready to go on.

Once I had the manifold ready to install things snowballed. I ended up borrowing a set of Stromberg 81's and got to work getting everything on the car. It took me a little bit to figure out linkage and tuning but I got it running. and drove it once or twice with the stock exhaust manifold. I finally decided it was time to snag a set of the Langdon Stovebolt style Cast Duals from 12bolt.com and to rework the exhaust. I also decided to do an experiment while I was at it. since the IGS Distributor I have is set up for ported vacuum I needed a Ported vacuum source for vacuum advance so I snagged an Elmira 97 base from a buddy of mine and had a space cut to raise the 81 upper half up enough for the base of the venturi's to clear the brass idle boosters in the Elmira base. The choke arm is maxed out in the open position which renders it useless. But I keep the front choke locked out anyway and only run a choke on the rear one. Had a buddy donate a set of 4-5/8 Edmunds Custom air cleaner to top everything off. The exhaust work was fun. I ended up getting lucky. The rear pipe went right back through the bellhousing like it had before but i had to get creative with the front pipe. Going down and around the bell housing and engine mount. All together I am happy with it. Still only has one hanger. HAHA!

In the way of suspension and improving driveability I finally Installed a panhard bar on the front axle. No more chasing a hand full around corners. I ended up going with a roadster supply raw cast stainless bracket. had to modify it a bit to work with my mystery batwings but that's hot rodding for ya. I must say life is way better when you aren't white knuckle driving everywhere! Message_1706234165386.jpg Message_1706234197183.jpg Message_1706234383728.jpg Message_1706234409728.jpg

Being a glutton for punishment I also decided to have a camshaft ground at Delta Camshaft in Tacoma to try and eek out a couple more ponies, since the exhaust and intake were begging for a little help. Ended up having a very conservative cam ground with 214º/214º @.050, intake C/L 110º, .398 lift and 109º lobe separation. Not a whole lot of idle character. Just a little lope around 450rpm but she sure is snappy. better acceleration from idle to 3k and it takes off from 3-4. but I generally cruise between 1200@45mph and 2200-2500 60-70mph. Did a quick gasket match on the headers since the as cast ports leave much to be desired at the block surface. Also while things were apart I took a chance to kiss the faces of the valves and touch up the seats with a stone. Compression was good before but it just gives me piece of mind to have done and checked everything myself.

Man love the updates! And really enjoying how all the different finishes and textures are coming together from the polished intake to the green paint. Just crushing it man.

do those chevy exhaust manifolds bolt right onto the flathead?

Thanks man! I've been having fun doing little things since I got it on the road. I just recently put a 5000 rpm Sun Tach in it too, just need to take some pics for a post. Got the tach for $25 at the early bird swap meet and got it working with a TachMatch from Technoversions.com. Also working on modifying a stock visor to make it all steel (I'm too cheap to buy one from Howells).

To answer your question: The cast dual manifolds I have are for 23" MoPar Flathead 6 engines 201, 218, 230. Langdon Stovebolt sold them till her retired and 12bolt.com is carrying the torch so to speak. You can find em on the 12bolt site under exhaust in their store.

    Ah! That explains the confusion:)

While you’re taking shots of the tach can you take one of the frame mount of your front pan hard bar? I can see it hanging down just curious how it’s attached

Nice build, now you need to mill the heads. I did my '47 Plymouth .060" and made a BIG difference. Everything is starting to work together, carbs, cam, exhaust and not compression.

Dig this build man. Very cool running something different and not cookie cutter. Need to make it down to RPM nationals nothing like it such a blast!
