I never put together a build thread but I took a few pictures today of my almost completed roadster. Nice to finally put some miles on it.

  5. Nice car man. I hope you took a lot of pics of the build up and you can start a build thread now. Although if it were mine I'd be too busy driving the wheels off it. Enjoy.

sent via classroom note. pass it on

Nice! Very race-y looking. I hope to have my '26 put back together soon.

Hey, I hate to be "that guy" and throw any kind of criticism out there, especially at a car as nicely finished as this one, so please don't be offended, but had you considered painting the aluminum radiator? It really sticks out on an otherwise very period looking car. Just a thought, if I'm stepping out of bounds, let me know.

    Well done, car looks great.

I would agree Squablow but I was worried about adhesion to the aluminum. I chose sliver over peeling black. If you have any suggestions or experience on radiator painting I'd appreciate it. As you know living up north I have a long winter to put the finishing touches on.

I like it a lot. Very nice looking little roadster and like any other roadster, the most fun you can have with your clothes on :D
I am also curious on painting aluminum radiators.
Wondering on the paint staying on issue as well as whether painting would affect cooling ability.

They make a black paint that is specifically for aluminum and has heat dissipating properties. The tuners use it for their turbo intercoolers up front.

I think you just have to etch the metal first.

    Great looking roadster!!
I scuffed my whole aluminum radiator with a scotchbrite pad and sprayed one coat of high temp flat black paint on it. I've put nearly 20k miles on it since then and it has adhered very well, no peeling. It still cools the 400hp small block Ford just fine, too.

You know, I actually have an aluminum radiator for one of my cars that hasn't been installed yet and was planning on painting it black but hadn't considered how well the paint would stick. I'm going to check out the high temp options described above.

Can you tell me more about the louvered side panels along the frame rails? Mine is unchanneled on an A frame and I like how those panels follow the sides of the body, I had considered using Model A fender aprons but I don't like how low they drop down. I like what you've got going on there.

Wipe the aluminium down with vinager and water. It will etch it. And the paint will stick better.
