that will permit water to STAY in Radiator LONGER with air cooling it.. If water circulates to fast it does not have chance to cool. And don't over fill radiator, leave your overflow tube room for water to expand into it.. Do not fill everything !! leave room.

Yeah I have heard that go both ways. I have heard you need to pump water through faster to cool and I have heard what you just said.

  4. Running hot water through a radiator faster will not cool it faster. The rad is a heat sink that allows airflow through it. It needs to have time to pull the heat out of the coolant.

That would work all fine and dandy but just because it's got a higher t stat doesn't make the water pump slower right? It just sits there until it opens but once it opens the water flows just the same as a lower set t stay but now it's 10* from boiling. Right? Seems like if it's pumping faster it would almost cool better. But then I see what you guys are saying if the water is in the radiator longer the air has more time to cool it.

did ya try it? water boils at 212 degrees F
Engine gets hot from friction. water pump doesn't cool engine, it brings cool water to take heat away.
PUT a 7 lbs radiator cap, then a 12 lb cap, it lowers boiling point in a pressurized system, s'pirement

Thank you, I like it better too but I almost want to try a 28-29 and see how that looks too.

Ever notice how much more 'streamlined' Henry's visors got from '27 to '28...then from '30-31 to none at all?
The cars were gettin' faster...somebody knew the '32 was gonna get that V8...so they leaned the 'A' pillar and ditched the visor!
Musta had governors on the V8 trucks, though...Visor'd 'til '34! :D

On a more serious note, I use 190* thermostats in most street jobs hereabouts.
My town is 60 miles North of Fresno, and we have HOT roadster days 5 months out of the year.
Before I get 'flamed' about living in CA., remember: The Pacific Ocean is 124 miles away....quick jaunt in a hop up!

Good to know. This works fine but I don't like how it fits on the upper post because the visor is so round. I might try a louvered 28-9 and if it doesn't work I will brace it.

I haven't got to drive it. The weather has been terrible. I have actually tried a 6 and now a 7 blade fan. Not backwards though. But I did order me up something yesterday.... Should be here by next weekend. Off to Home Depot to buy some wood to build some ramps for it. Now I didn't get a 2 post because I can't raise much over the 48" this is capable of and my ceiling is 2" too low. Also I don't want the posts in my way. I'm primarily using this just to get things up a little higher so I can do bodywork more comfortable.pretty excited. image.jpeg

I still like your build. I dislike the radiator placement, but I stopped fussing about about third time it was talked about. I'm surprised to see its still alive.

Have you thought about the ideer I gave you way back, switch too a 1929 cowl. You got the visor, and a cowl can be way cheaper then a radiator. And it could be made too line up, and it would remove the one thing I struggle with on a T.

But other then temp, how does it run and drive? If it's just half as good as it looks, it must be better then my Daily Driver.

I haven't really thought about that cowl thing. I actually really like it the way it is. It runs great and drives pretty dang good. I mean it is strait axle and has bias plys that grab every rut possible. But it's a blast to drive. It doesn't have temp problems as bad as it did at first. I have changed fans, Thermostats, built a shroud, adjusted timing better, found out my fuel system was plugging with the foam baffle/making it lean and hot, along with some other things. I only worry now if it's a super hot day and I hit heavy traffic or get stuck waiting for a train.

I did look at that one and I liked it but the ramps still looked a little steep for some of my cars. We will see how this works and if I don't end up loving it I will take it to work and get something different for home. My plan is after I finish putting cement and wire up my other shop I will just put a 2 post out there.

So how much did you actually chop this tudor? You said you were planning 4 inches, but I didn't know if that's what you did. The car has great proportions.

Here is what I got done today. A little project before I get my lift this week. Built these from some plans I found on garage journal. I did some things different but they are close. I need to get some joist hangers that I will slide the cross 2x4's in and I will probably use u bolts that just drop in the top to keep them together so I can disassemble them easy. Dog came with and picked out the best boards...also made a mess of bedliner on the floor but who cares it will all blend in in a few weeks.

Yeah a old guy at the expo had a couple pictures on a board and I saw it. I asked him about it and went and looked at it. I liked what I saw. It has a little hole in the cowl and the door bottoms are pretty much gone. Nothing that I can't fix though. Other then that the cab is in great shape. Can't wait to start on it probably will start it after rod run.
