Stumbled on to this 29, as the story goes....long story is the guy was restoring it.. frame off motor rebuilt ... perfect body painted and new wood in the bed...tires were flat from setting... I grabbed the fan and the motor spins....(gonna stick a scope in the plug holes and see what it looks like first) hoping for a good motor... stacks of recipes.. and can see new bolts every where...no dents or rust ever... So what to do with it...my thought... if the motors good and I get it running... leave it and finish the build as a 40"s / 50's Hot Rod....So pretty much a stocker with some performance parts.... leave the brakes and 6v...change the wheels out to 16's with big and littles.... and drive it... maybe reverse eye lowered springs...I have a 4'' drilled forged axel.. maybe slip that in on the stock spring....???? anyway...would like to stay away from the SBC build.... so if the banger is no good.... maybe a more modern banger drive train...???? whatcha think???
once I see what the inside of the motor looks like... I was gonna flood it with marvel and hand crank it slowly.. hopefully....
in the one pic, you can see part of a 1920 chevy roadster..... looked all complete... gonna also be for sell... but... whats it worth???? and what would you do with it???? It has a clutch peddle so thats a plus...kinda cool looking in it's own way
I like that idea. All the pieces are there, no need to make it more complicated (and take more time and cost more money.)
thanks for posting, where i'm at, I have plenty of hot rods that go fast... @ 72 not a lot of time left...and my says is if you leave these stock... the brakes are fine... second gear if you let off the gas they really slow down quick
Saw that one for sale. Looked real nice from the pictures and looked like a deal! Thatd be cool as a low stock motor car since its so original looking. I also love that color green and debating painting my CCPU that darker 30/31 green. Gordy
thanks, you would not believe the stuff on the lot...probley 5 or more barns full ,plus containers full..flat head motors and blocks... old Studebaker presidential.. stuff every where.. probley 3 acres
I think that the 490 is somewhat rare, but I don't know that it makes worth any more than a T of the era. Best of Luck, Carp.
Sounds like a great plan. That CCPU is perfect for short trips and local Cars & Coffee gatherings, where everyone else shows up in sports sedans, hot hatchbacks and LS-swapped pickups.
What Gary said. Last year an older man (than me) showed at the local events with his T coupe and I have seen him on several occasions riding around. Neat little car and he has some period accessories that go with it!
Are you going to look at that truck ?,as I'm only 10 minutes away from it. Though i Have enough ****, I keep looking at it on Facebook cause it's so cheap.
the girl there said..." i don't know why grandpa put all the tires on the roof?" lol... I saaid so the sheet metal roof don't blow away...
I know better than that... it's in my trailer in vegas now...it's way worth going out there.. palmdale... to have a look around.... I can give you the guys #
I can't get it that low with out a bunch of work..... in fact I think you have to ditch the lever brakes to do a drop axel....and must 2 is not in my life time... but we'll see
only took me 2 hours to get it out of the trailer%#@& ordered tires... 8.20's and 5.50's.15'' I have 2 wheels and need two 4.5 or 5 x15'' wheels... the 2 I have I think are 6'' wide...would also like to find some 15'' wires
FAWK ME, that is certainly a nice find. I really like the color combo . Maybe just an al***ude adjustment and some easy performance upgrades and drive it as much as you can. If you need help, I'll come out and drive it some....Mitch.
