Well, it's weird how things happen, and how ideas spring into your head... Many of you know that the famous "Silver Bullet" streamline dragster built, then restored, by Stan Johnson (Milwaukee) made it's way to the Museum of American Speed last week. I met Stan around 1996, when I went to work for him, mostly screwing stuff up. Well, yesterday I traded a pretty ouchy 46 Ford Convertible project for what has turned out to be quite a gem... Then, while staring at it and measuring things, I was thinking of what to do with it... and then it hit me... The Silver Bullet Coupe... maybe push car style... something like that... So, gotta dig up a 273 (anybody got one?) And then figure out the conversion of the front spindles. They make a disc kit but really want to stick with drums... Most of the rest is all pretty work. Car is originally from Cali. still wears it's 1983 tags. Title matches change to NC in 1983. And then it just got parked. Currently has a 1950 (P20) six in it, on 12V. matching 3 spd. Also came with the orignal engine and trans... Lovely (not really) interior of green naugahyde... and there's shag carpet in the trunk... Gotta look into maybe an F1 box conversion and if anyone has a spindle swap idea, I've got 37-41 Ford stuff on hand... Any way, thanks for looking! More to come... soon(ish)
That coupe is a Victory Six made in 28 thru early 29. They say early had wood running boards and late were steel . In 29 was replaced with model DA which used same chassis and fenders. I have had my 29 DA for 49 yrs. Nice coupe.
Awesome car! What are you running for brakes? I need to figure out how to change these out with a regular wheel mount...
Mine has all been modified. Unmentionable independent front with larger rotors and 8 3/4 mopar rear out of a charger with 11” drums from a Chrysler.
