So I found a 1929 ford tudor that was a race car way back when and has been sitting a while. So I figured I should either restore it as a race car or turn it into a rat rod. I was just wondering what is everyone's input on it? Ratrod or race car? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Read this Wes, especially the part about rat rods: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-h-a-m-b-rules-guidelines.44274/
I hope he doesn't leave. Guy is 19. I once had to learn. I hope he sticks around and learns. Look around the HAMB and see what real hot rods are all about. Hope you do something with that.
Exactly. It's so easy to jump onto that bandwagon. Few here have only built and loved only traditional cars. We have all evolved into some form of traditionalism. Don't slam the door on this young man. Come up with options for him. After all he is asking for help. I vote for a form of drag car. Check out some old 60's drag pictures for inspiration. https://www.google.com/search?q=29+...A&biw=320&bih=460&dpr=2#imgrc=iotsxYkPGrh0-M:
Welcome , But sorry we don't use the f word, or the rr word on here, its a family site ha. ha. I do like your find. I grew up at the dirt track. I think It should be built as a 50s correct race car. This is a great place to be if you decide go that route. It's your car, but if you build a rr you don't want to post it on here. Please keep it safe! If I were you I would read a lot of the threads, that are on here. Hope we can help with any questions you may have. Check out the Jalopy Showdown. That would be a great car for the track. But if your looking for a street car, you may want to do a trade. I'm sure there's a lot of guys who would like to have a traditional race car. I know, I would. Who's the little guy in the photo? Keep it FUN...
I'm all about helping out the youngsters and trying to steer them in the right direction but, what ever happened to coming onto a forum, reading some threads, reading the rules and maybe taking a few minutes or days to get acquainted with the gist of the place? Like Ron, I hope he builds the car into a period dirt track car. It would be the ideal way to go.
Yes. Sometimes the youngsters pass through this site or pass our cars on the street only one time during the formative years. We may only have one time to inspire them in the right direction before they pass into the dark side.
A race car with history will bring in a fair amount of cash. Sell it to a round track collector and use the cash to purchase a project. I forgive you for not thinking about the Right Rear thing and say welcome. You will find a lot of old circle track folks here. Just to add we have a site called Dogfight that has a long thread on circle cars.... Last where are you located?? I might be able to help sell the unit you have.... Bobby..
Well I am in the marine corps and I don't have time to use my phone let alone read through a bunch of stuff so my apologies. But thanks for all of the constructive criticism. I have bigger things to take care of then that. I probably won't see the car for another year do to deployment and all that good stuff. But thanks everyone. I didn't know gear heads were only biased towards one style of building. And yes I am a youngster but I grew up in a damn garage and building a hotrod is one thing but a ratrod is a reflection of yourself in a more personal way rather then looking at what everyone else is doing and copying their builds. Have a good one though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using H.A.M.B. mobile app
Well where you are going you dont have to worry about keeping your ammo dry. Keep your self safe and have a good return home. For what is worth their are a lot of Military Veterans on this board.
Thank you and I appreciate it. My apologies for the confusion on this page. And I decided to restore it as a circle track car. I should be finding the history on it here real soon hopefully. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using H.A.M.B. mobile app
First, thank you for your Military service and secondly I rarely respond to the introduction threads, but felt compelled to do so. Welcome to the Hamb, admittedly the members here are for the most part traditionalist but that's what the site is all about, traditional hot rods & customs. Taking a few minutes to read the rules of this site usually clears up any misconceptions. The rr concept is about as far away from the Hamb credo as a jacked up 4 wheel drive 2016 diesel truck or the proverbial square peg in a round hole, it doesn't fit! We do like to see vintage cars that were built for a specific purpose being brought back to life and your sedan would make a ideal project, ether as a dirt track warrior from the past or as a street version hinting it's traditional heritage,It's your car and your decision. From my point of view I hope you hang around and learn why the guys here are so passionate about the Hamb. HRP
