Add me to the list of those who like the longer rear side windows. Lends of bit of individuality to it, and testifies to it's unique origins.
Really digging what I am seeing so far! Looks like you've got a good vision of what you want. Got any sketches of what you are shooting for? Ryland
I too, like the window look. It'll make people really scratch their heads and,on top of that, it looks great! You're doing a fantastic job bud! I like it because it doesn't look like a radical modification but something seems " a little different" about those side windows.
haven't done anything but work all summer, haven't had time to do much but I plan on starting up again soon. Will keep you guys up to date when I do.
If the window seems to big you could use the 29 blindback or the leatherback fordor sedan. That would make the window 12-14 inches shorter. Rod
Hi JT.Looks like you done got the"infection".Looks good so far.Keep the updates and the pics coming.Welcome aboard. Good luck.Have fun.Be safe. Leo
hey JT, that is a great start for a hotrod. nice chop and splice for such a young guy. keep it up and don`t listen to the knuckleheads who tell YOU how to build YOUR car.
SOMEWHERE in my travels, I saw a '33-'34 sedan delivery that was made from a 4-dr, but the builder removed the pillar supporting the rear doors so as to create a large panel for his advertisement purposes. It was quite unusual but it grew on me quickly. The panel that was created more or less resembled an original delivery without the body extension in the rear. Wish I could see it again, but it was many years ago.
Well I know it has been a long time since I have updated but I have been doing a lot of collecting. It takes time for a kid like me to get the money for all these parts haha, but I have gathered pretty much everything I need for a rolling chassis. Got a four link kit, 48" drilled I beam axle with hairpins and disc brakes, Ford 9" for $100 from a junk yard, 454 and 350 trans (I know it probably won't hold but it was cheap and besides the car will only weigh like 2600 pounds so fingers crossed). Should be getting the tires mounted and balanced tomorrow and will post pictures when I do!
JT Welcome aboard this is a long strange trip you are about to go on. I am very impressed with your talent. I am north west of you up in the region by Lafayette Indiana. I will be watching your build, Glad to have another Hoosier on the HAMB!!!! Don down the road from you
I know a lot of you guys on here don't like lightening holes but I like the look and decided to put some in my frame rails, milled the rails on a cnc and used a lathe to get the slugs to fit within the rails perfectly. Seen a lot of the "ratrod" guys just throw some tubing that's a half inch too long in the frame and weld it. Wanted a cleaner look and I think I got it Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I just have the motor sitting there to simulate the ride height, for when I started on the rear suspension. Really happy with how the front suspension turned out. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
And finally my rolling chassis, I don't know if any of you are still following my build or even care. It's taken me 3 years to get to this point. I just finished the rolling chassis last weekend and when I get home from work I spend about 30 minutes staring at it before I go in, it's surreal. Still need to finish weld everything and chop the ends of the crossmember off but it rolls and I'm happy. Now I just need to get the body mounted to the frame. At ride height the bottom bar of the four link is level and the top is 3 degrees down, track bar is also level. Just sitting up high with no weight. After you put a tube into each hole and weld them in, is it really any lighter? It looks cool like that, but it seems to me that the whole idea of "lightening holes" is defeated. They're now "decorative holes."
I like the creative body work. That's just about how Gordon Buehrig started out with his custom Model A.
I just caught this thread, here is another lurker watching.I had the same question on the drilled frame, looks like you answered it. Keep it up mister, hope you are on the road soon.
I'm going to watch this one. I'm also digging the longer rear window. Three years to get to this point as a young fella, with everything you have going on at that age, is pretty cool. Stay away from those girls, and you'll finish it quicker, haha.
