Under dash storage / column brace is done. Think the battery has found a home. Got this little aircraft battery idea from a fellow hambr’. Should start a flathead anyhow.

Playing with some exhaust ideas. I’m hoping these porters make the exhaust bearable being so short.

So yours will be even quieter than mine. I think you could be ok. Turning them out vs down prevents any droning as the exhaust hits the pavement and bounces back into the underside of the body.

Slick looking hot rod! Curious what the square around the quick change is that we see from the rear?

    Radiator shell a little high?

(Maybe a 28-29 would fit better?)

I’m sorry you don’t know about Mercury Marauders. They were high horse power engines beginning in 1957 thru 1963 and were very successful in racing. They used the name Marauder starting in 1963 for a model name. S-55 was the highest hp at 427” @ 425 hp. They were best at Daytona and other high speed tracks. The Mercury continued to use the name Marauder off and on thru 2004.

Yeah. Well General Frank D. Merrill led “Merrill’s Marauders” through the China-Burma-India theaters in 1943-1944 fighting the Japanese. A fighting force that has direct lineage to todays 75th Ranger Regiment (I’m a 13 year member).

It’s a military thing for me, not some mercury mill.
    See shift knob above.

I’m sorry you don’t know about Merrill’s Marauders.

Bam! To be fair..more guys on this website would know about Mercury Marauders instead of Merrills. But now we know about both! Thanks for your service.

I do know about Merrill’s Marauders but since this a site about cars when I found the thread I assumed the vehicle was going to have one of these engines possibly a 57-8 which are very rare today. No offense taken by me at all. Good luck with it as you seem be enjoying it a lot.

If you dad is still around please thank him for his service from me. They did some incredible things during the war.

Yes its 1.5 inches. Thank you! My dad passed away in 2007. I used to go to a lot of Merrills reunions. One year they had some Rangers from the 75th from Fort Lewis,Washington do a demo on hand to hand combat. Somewhere I have some pics. Thank you for your service.
