hi guys. had enough parts around to build a 1930 pick up.The stock motor that was in there was junk.....so I did what all gear heads would do...find another motor with more cylinders. This truck is going to be simple, and made with parts i have sitting around, stock wheels, 35/36 trans, full fendered with dual side mounts. And giving me lots of sheet metal practice before I start my roadster builds. So this is where I am at. Motor is in with trans and working on the metal. I knew the steering box was going to be a pain. But I am stuck. I was planning on using a stock steering box. Now with stock exhaust manifolds they are in the way. Is there a fenton or RED manifold that will gain me the clearance I need? I could rasie the motor up a bit too. I also can if needed machine that boss with the flange on the steering box to make it shorter a bit. Got that idea from a thread on here i found months ago.I have been using the search tool to look for ideas....but still having some trouble.

I used an F1 box, 31 pickup with a 283. Cut the flange off and made a new one. Moved the box location on the frame rail back a bit to clear everything. There is a PDF file for the new flange and pics of my box before and after plus pics of it installed in the frame. Worked good and was pretty simple to do. I didn't have to take the box apart to do it. Here's a link to it:

Yea...moving it back was something I figured I needed to do.
Looks like the 283 though sits taller?? I know someone on here has found the right exhaust manifold and the proper modifications to make this work.
