that paint looks like 1957 Cadillac Bahama blue ,i painted my 46 merc in 1960 that color , paid $14 for a gallon back then
I just think they look better closer to the stock position, more in line with the axle line. ................... just giving my honest .02 like we are all on the same team here.
its cool, but poorly done..lol....it has modeling/sagging in the metallic, and alot of streaks from where the paint was applied heavier.....but its a very cool vibe and fits the car...I was told it was painted in 1959, but theres not much natural deterioration in the paint..lacquer breaks down over the years, but this paint held up well...it thins with lacquer thinner...so who knows what it is...my guess is acrylic lacquer...
well last night I tried to put back on the original front fenders...but it was obvious after mocking up the brackets that the car originally had much taller tires on the front that it has now...so these rims ar not orig do the build. The fenders had about 3" of clearance over the tire...way to high, looked ****y...so I will either skip putting on the fenders or I will modify those brackets so that the fender comes down and just hovers overs the top of the tire...
BTW..if any of you guys out there knows where I can pick up an original "Challengers" car club plaque from Carthage MO, please let me know....I have the original sign from the club hanging in my shop, but would love the plaque as well...heres a pic of the sign
Thanks Wolfman...I love my shop...its an old Skelly gas station here in Carthage..right in the historic residential area...we bought it in 2013 and have restored it to being a functional shop...it has alot of carthage history, was built in 38
