View attachment 2622203 I just bought this on Friday. This is one of the best bodies I have ever seen. There isn't one rust hole in the car. No dent any bigger than a small ding. All of the fenders, running boards and splash aprons are in almost perfect condition. Also came with what I was told is a Fat Man ch***is and front end. 10 bolt rear with four bar and coil overs. New small block 350 with aluminum heads complete from carb to pan. Rebuilt turbo 350.

image.jpg I set it on the ch***is to check the mounting holes. They all lined up nice. I will pull it off to finish the floor.

I got a set of fenders with my car. I'm not going to use them and I don't want to store them. The front fenders are original and in great shape. The running boards and splash aprons look like new. One of the rear fenders is new and the other has some mud in it. What are these worth? I have the braces too.

I've been building the floor frame to channel the car 3". I have the frame built and tacked into the car. I'm hoping to get it welded tomorrow. Then I can cut out all the original braces. image.jpg image.jpg

I ordered a 3" chopped radiator and a 32 Ford grill for the A. Also ordered the floor and drop mount for the steering column. My wiring harness came in Saturday. I'm hoping to get it to the shop within the next two weeks for aluminum oxide strip.

If you are going to do a stock fabric top feel free to look at mine at www.picturetrail.com/bartmcneill I used a solid piece of fiberboard and smoothed it all with filler, then put the top on. I think I got the idea on either here or fordbarn.com I was planning to rod the sedan but just could not bring myself to do it so I got a rough coupe body and have a ch***is similar to yours but Mustang II front. You can see it in the Coupster folder.

Your top looks good. I'm not sure what I'm doing on top yet.

One suggestion, if you are rodding it, go with the metal top. I don't think it would require much more work and you could use steel supports instead of wood.

I have thought about a steel top. I can buy a ribbed one for 350.00. I haven't ever put one in and I'm a little worried I might not do a good enough job. I'm more of a fabricator and less of a body man.

Lots of station wagon/mini van roofs in junk yards to recycle and cheap!Look for mid 60's and earlier(better for welding).

image.jpg image.jpg I got some work today. I got the car back on the frame everything clears except the car sets on the rear axel tubes and hits the coil overs. I expected it might. I'm going to build a notch to clear everything back there. It should be good then. The roof height above the front windshield is 57.75". I also got one of the new shock / headlight mounts welded on.

  17. Progress is progress. That certainly looks like the split front axle suspension that Fat Man offered at one time. Very similar to what was used in the British built J2 Allards from the early 50s.

image.jpg image.jpg I got the second light mount done today. I threw on an old set of headlights and mocked up the grill. I'm liking the look so far. image.jpg

That's a strange looking front axle,I'm familiar with Brett's independent front suspensions but somehow I've missed this one. HRP

It's called a Vintage IFS. It's by Fatman. I think they came out around 2000.

Haven't posted for a while. The car has been stripped and put in aircraft primer. I purchased a set of lakestyle headers and the body is bolted to the frame.

image.jpg I hooked up the rest of my steering tonight. It cleared my low mount alternator. I had to get a p***enger side mount. The alternator hit my steering box on the drivers side. image.jpg

Lot of brake line floating in thin air, ought to be clamped to the ch***is. Lots of micro oscillations of flex/bounce will not be good for the line or joins.

Yea, I don't have any hold downs on the brake lines yet. I want to make sure nothing is going to have to be moved before I make any holes In the frame. I still have the fuel line too. I plan on also running a polished stainless line along side the fuel line as a conduit. I will flare both ends so they don't rub the wires. I want to get all this ran before I clamp anything down. The fuel line from the fuel cell to the block on the firewall will be polished stainless hard line. The line from the block to the carb will be braided.
