I stumbled upon this 1930 Studebaker coupe in the Fort Worth Stockyards over the weekend. I've never seen one before! Sorry about the poor quality pics. Talked to the owner and it's the original body and frame, 9' Ford Rear end, with a 454 powerplant. Very cool and clean car. Anyone ever come across one of these?

  3. Here's a 1927 Stude coupe. I'd never seen one hotrodded before either.

That one is much cooler, I didn't care for the color of the one I came across.

I was speaking on the phone with an older gentleman here in southern Ontario on the weekend who has what sounds like a couple of neat Studebakers.

One is a 53, with a BBC engine, that he has taken to some of the Goodguys shows, and the other one he just completed is a 28 done in the style of track roadster, with an underslung chassis (not sure if that's the correct terminology ... the front axle is above the frame). It has a flathead six Stude engine with an Eaton M90 roots-type blower from a T-Bird Super Coupe (he was calling me for some info on the blower). Car has 16" artillery wheels with Coker bias-ply rubber, and some other neat sounding equipment.

I've asked him to e-mail me a pic ... if I get a photo, I'll certainly post it here, sounds like a very interesting car.

    cheers

Axle on top of the frame? I'd have to see that, seems like there would be clearance issues.

I believe ive seen that under-slung track car before at a goodguys event at Famoso. Will dig around my old pics. Truely awsome.

This would be a different car, he hasn't ventured far from home with the roadster yet ... it just got completed. Sounds like someone else has something similar, let's see the pics!!

    cheers
