I have not decided if my car will be positive earth or negative due to the mag.

However, this can be decided at a later date – but my question, as I have never had a Vertex Mag before (an old 1930s one) is ….

When grounding out the mag to switch it off – does it matter if the car is either negative or positive earth.

I would hate to select the wrong grounding and damage the mag.

I was going down the negative earth – but in the UK pre 1940s cars were positive earth.

    Any help would be apricated

A magneto grounding wire does not care about the the chassis polarity since it creates its own internal voltage.

You will have no problem with positive or negative ground (earth).

X2 what he said^^. Think about it this way. You're just grounding it back to itself.
