Yeah, that's me in the car..I'm only 10 and already have built 20 cars, it's hard though as I have to walk to school, 5 miles uphill, both ways, milk the cows, slop the hogs and take care of Mrs. Murphy down the street. But my grandpa picks up the slack. He's handsome, tall, rich and has 1000 girlfriends buying him stuff all the time. The column and wheel I had, plan on painting and distressing the column some, haven't decided on a wheel yet. Suggestions.? I have more photo's, but will wait a little while, as I want to finish some stuff first before posting them.
The coupsters are nice if you are a taller guy, little more room inside. Any plans for the windshield? My buddy is building (if that means it sits in storage and takes up shop space) a similar one..... 28/29. He is planning on using a 348/4spd.
I'm 6-2, 225. And you are right, lot's more space for the legs. I am thinking of chopping the windshield 3 inches. I am not planning on laying the windshield back. I saw some pictures a few years ago where in the forties and fifties, there was a big push to make these "coupesters". The best looking ones, (in my eye), were with the straight up windshield. I cannot find those photos or the site I saw them. Don't think it was the HAMB though.
The coupester is lookin' SWEET. There's a fellah on here from NZ who has a pretty sweet one. I'll try to link it, I ref'd it in one of my posts about my upcoming build. Post more pics as soon as you can...give me motivation Hey Rex! I'm slowly collecting parts for it. The upcoming new addition to the family has quelled some of the buying. I picked up a 2 door sedan subframe the other day to graft in from the doors forward, but I think I might need to buy a cheap A frame to ensure correct measuring and welding. Can't find one below $300, though :/ If I can save up, I think the most expensive piece I'll buy will be the 32 frame I want to use. I've been looking at Blackboard Hot Rods frames, as they seem to be the most economical and very highly rated; however, I'm also looking at JW Rod Garage's because the rear of the frame is designed to not need subframe modifications. Still haven't decided on the engine. I've got a 69 Chevy 250/PG combo...250 needs a LOT of work. SO, unless I can find a decent 283/327/Flathead and dirt cheap prices, I may just go with that. Sorry to hijack, ya'll.
Hi, I am looking to build a coupster myself. I have a model A cowl and doors but no quarters. I was thinking of custom building them out of aluminum to match the contors of a coupe body/doors with the roadster shape. I was told the roadster doors and beltline were lower than the coupe and they are narrower? Any advise would be welcomed!
