So what's the latest?

 

Sorry haven't had much to update about, just been doing some small stuff. But I did just put the final coat of primer on the body, i'm going to be driving the car just with primer and I'll finish the body work and paint it shiny eventually

 

Final coat of primer is on! Going to repaint some of the inside, I'll post some inside shots later, then going to paint the firewall white. Almost time to put the body on the chassis!!

 

What kind of primer are you using ?
Just as a cautionary note, some primers will allow water to be absorbed through the primer and also the body filler will absorb moisture too.
Rusting will start where you can't see it and then will appear later on after the shiny paint is applied.

That's a good quality DTM epoxy primer, and there's no filler on the car at this point. It's well protected.

Yeah it's summit racing epoxy primer, good stuff!!

 

Inside of the car painted and will be painting the firewall white probably Tuesday night, want the epoxy primer to completely cure before painting over it. Then it's time to put the body on the chassis!!

 

Oh man. It looks terrible. I tell you what...just send it to me in Texas so you don't have to look at it anymore. Heck, I'll even pay for shipping.

read this start to 'now' and sitting here totally amazed at craftsmanship and skills displayed. Love it...

I do have one question/observation I'm trying to figure out. I noted the rear differential housing seems biased to the passenger side ~2" or so... wuffo? just wish to educate myself.

 

It's because he built the car from my leftovers. We had a '57 passenger car 9'' housing, which we just used the center of. We also had two big bearing 31 spline axles, that were from two different rear ends, but when put together were the right width for this car. We also had a 31 spline 4.1:1 pumpkin with trac-loc that we wanted to use. So, we put it all together with new tubes and truck housing ends from yet another 9" that was laying around. Hot rod recycling

Oh wow! It's starting to look like a car! (A very nice car!) You've come a long way.

 

Fun to study it as it gets closer and closer to a full vehicle. The first thing that jumps out at me is the push bar/ nerf coming out of the panel instead of coming from under it. Keeps the car looking trim.

Curious if your louvered visor will let some of that pressure under it out.

Can't wait to see the video of it getting sideways

The rear wheels are positioned perfectly in relation to the width of the body. What's the track width between the rear tires ? Great build, thanks taking us along for ride.

Thanks Tim!! The louvers will allow the air to escape that gets trapped under the visor but they're mostly there just to look cool honestly hahah. Hopefully soon you will!
