Yeah, I gotta chime in...don't fill the roof, they're only original once.

  5. Are there any hotrodders left on this board? It's just an old Ford that is a blank canvas. Nobody is ever going to forget what a 32 Ford looks like stock. Geesh! Build a full fledge hotrod out of the damn thing already! We only live once as far as I can tell.

I am a Chevy fan but even I would love to see that coupe kept stock. Young Turds just don't appreciate or value a original car. First thing they want to do is "Cut it up". That coupe is a time capsule, that once "cut", can never be replaced.

I'd chop the sh*t out of it, bringing a tear to any restorer's eye. . . but I wouldn't fill the roof. I'd go for a steel insert that can be removed.

dude, i love your idea for it, it will look sweet

  14. I like your plans except for the filled top part. To do it classic hot rod style you should put a white insert in the roof.

You could make all the mechanical changes you wanted first...get it running and driving, and then think about paint later on.

oh, and don't you dare fill that top...

I am will think about it a lot before I do anything. I am not going to chop it. I will consider the comments on the roof. I am just happy to have it.

What is all the dislike for filling the roof,I personally think the insert looks terrible and has been the cause for major damage when stored outside and when it let go water poured in the interior. Just look what a bad insert had done to that three window that sat for many years in a leaking garage a few years ago, inserts were a terrible design.

are you sure that didn't come from PA and put in a barn up in mass? let me dig up the pics of the 32 that was in my home town sitting in agarage since early 60s............I mean it literally looks identical, I know because I sat in it and remember those sun visors being identical

I missed on it cause I couldn't come up with 20k in a week

I wouldn't be replying if I seriously didn't believe it was the same car

Lord almighty I could not touch it besides maybe some 16" wheels (with 5.50's and 7.00's) maybe a drop axle but that's it. It's absolutely perfect....or very close to.

As many have said Mike it's your problem. Damned a lot of us would love to have your problem.
It's true, years ago they were chopped, channeled, tore apart, built into cool rods, and many disfigured. But we all know that decent old cars are a rare commodity today. If you must have a custom rod, sell or trade this gem and build one with something that has been changed already. Even buy a modern steel or glass 32.
The comments about not replacing the original wood and cloth top are also bogus. They came from the factory that way and lasted many years. Done right a replacement insert as original will last your lifetime.
Then again, do what's in your heart.

That is a terriffic car. My two cents is to drive it as is or restore it to original condition. It is too good of a car to hotrod.
