  2. All the time, maybe look at some of my posts before you question the fact I have only had banger powered cars. My profile doesn't read like your laundry list of a history book, but I am only 27. I am gonna be nice and leave it at that because I have choice words to respond back to you that would get me in trouble with the mods.

I was most surprised that the inserts were still in the engine compartment.

In what world is a bone stock 32 a traditional hot rod? Build the damn thing!

I think the original poster is not too far off with his stated plan.

The way some are reacting here, I'm surprised no one has told the OP to just build a fiberglass car if its a hot rod he wants. His planned mods seem to be very tasteful and well thought. If someone has their panties in a wad over what HE wants to do to HIS car then make him an offer he can't refuse.

To the OP, good luck with your build and keep us posted.

Thank you Blue57. I just joined the forum yesterday and immediately ecame an Alliance Member. Everyone has an opinion, I get it. I do need to thoughtfully consider it though. It is a HUGE responsibility. I take it seriously. I could never chop it or remove the fenders. That car has never been apart. The engine never removed. Heck, even thr engine trays are still there. It really is amazing. Know whatver I do, I will preserve it. By the way, if I do fill the top, there is a method of doing so where it still looks like a soft top, but has steel hidden under the soft top. I would only do this to preserve it, but it would still have the same look inside and out.

I would trade it straight across for a finished hot rod. But that's just me. Congratulations on your excellent find!

Would be a shame to do anything but get her back on the road "as is" with all of the parts that Henry's disgruntled employees built her with in 32! you could build a cookie cutter 32 out of a Brookville but I would leave this ol girl alone! $0.02..

Once you grind that original paint off, you will never get it back. Leave the paint alone.

wow awesome find. I am in the same boat, I just bought a original 33 3 window and have all kinds of ideas and people with opinions. Just take your time and look at pics on the HAMB and the Rodders Journal and they will give you your own ideas.

I bought a Walden roof insert for my 5W. Tim at Irrational Metalworks trimmed it and put holes around the perimeter and screwed it on. I then put a padded insert on top of that. Looks almost factory.

Based on the photos, there doesn't appear to be much paint on it. Looks like someone already removed most of it....

Similar to what Cracker head said, if I did Hot Rod it, would would put an insert into it and then put a pad over the insert and the Ford pattern, long grain vinyl cover. No one would see the steel or know it was there it would look very original.
