Couldn't have said it better....just what I was thinking.

  2. If it were mine, later flathead 8, T-5, and juice brakes.
    And old style roof.

But alas, someone else found it first and paid the $$$, not my call.

Don't know what to tell you to do with it. But thanks for showing it to us. That's a find of a life time. Savor the moment, kinda like hitting the lotto. Enjoy

You can build a hot rod out of anything, but this car is unique. Once you start filling tops, painting, restoring.....the originality of being a "barn find" is forever gone. Frankly, the net value of the car is probably greater as-is than restored.

Please just clean it up and fix just enough to make it driveable. It will be a unique, historic, and valuable piece of history and not just another (as if there were so many) restored 1932 5-window.

What a great find. I know this is a hot rod site but man I would have a hard time touching that ole girl. My opinion, not that is matters at all is to keep her as is for awhile and just get it running/driving again.

Start with bolt on stuff. You may kick yourself in the butt if you change it right away. Really great find though and good luck with it. I am jealous to say the least.

Nice find, I would be torn on cutting that one when there are still other candidates out there, but any way you look at it you are one Lucky stiff.

That is funny because I was looking for a 32 when I stumbled onto my 33.

Strange as it might sound, but the car in that condition would probably make enough money in a sale to buy a ready Rodded version of the same or a project and enough money to build it .A person looking for an untouched original would jump at the chance to buy it as opposed to a bitsa that no matter how nicely restored would never be the original car that rolled off the line in 32.

In saying that....it is your car and your choice, I absolutely love it and can almost smell it from here...I don't do envy,I'm genuinely pleased for you, great score.

First, the search is 1/2 of the fun of getting a '32..or any car. Deciding what direction to take it and making it your own is the second 1/2 of the fun. Turning your vision into the reality is another 1/2 of the fun.....oh wait..my math is a little off! I still cant decide what to do with mine, so I just made it driveable "as is" for now. Everything is still stock.

Maybe you should look at how rare it really is b motor with engine pans how many have seen one. If it is indeed real rare it may be worth serious money and money counts to buy what you want but I guess you have figured this.

I couldn't agree more. I'm not a restorer by any means, but the cloth top is such a cool early design element that keeps a car "old timey". If you were building a race car I could see you filling the top, but sounds like you are going for a stock top and full fenders so why fill the top?

That is a really neat original car. Like others have said you might consider trading it or selling it for a car that is already more modified. It would be neat to do all early ford running gear with a hopped up Flat Head. Obviously that might not be what you are after which is cool, just give it thought before you tear it apart.

    Rad find! Congrats.

RussTee, I have tried to find out, but haven't figured it out exactly. I am still looking. Everyone can dest assured, I understand how rare this car is in its current state. No plans to do anything yet. Thanks for all the comments.

Anybody know how rare this car is or isn't, not the condition of the find, how many of these 5 Window Model B Coupes were made?

Just searched your answer is 51,794 5w coupes. Granted not many in the condition of yours, But it already served a previous life as a grocery getter and your plan is a very tasteful and complimentary to the car. Good luck on whatever you decide.

  21. I would ruin that car. Its just a 32. Who cares...build a fucking hot rod. Bunch of "hot rodders" in the closet up in this thread. ;)

There ARE a lot of restored 32's. If he leaves it as is, it'll be another rusted, but nice '32.:D

I get the '32 lovers and the obsession, but..... really.

  25. This seems pointless to me. Why put in a steel top if you cover it? If you put a soft top in properly, it will not leak.

A waste of labor in my opinion.

I'm filling the top of mine with nauga over steel best of both in my ever so humble opine. My coupe was my dads so I know about leaving vs improving. Follow your gut on this F the rest. Cheers NC
