I hate you aleady. Redeem yourself by coming over and help me with my pile o'shee. All I can say is WOW!!! Absolutely fabulous! D
Rex, whose ch***is is under the coupe? Did you build or buy? Looks great so far and I am sure will be a very nice 5 window when done. Is your sedan next? Lynn
For this five window there are brookville subframe and rockers from RJ Enterprise out of kansas. A lot of bump and dent work and some patch panel repair, some seames still need another round round with the hammer and dolly. But sometimes after doing all that stuff it is good just to cut the top and make a nice big change to the project, the owner of the car wanted a wedge so a 3" 4" chop is what i went for. Should get it all tacked back together tomorrow and start working the rest of the car out. I did have the doors fit and the body on the frame with 90% of the repair done before the top was cut off just like building a house you need a good foundation to start with. Some seams still need to be worked out a little better, this is not a show car but i can tune them in some more. I pulled the a pillers off the skin was not attached in this area and there might be chance we will replace the header and maybe lean the post this will make the one less seam for the a pilar chop when it is all said and done. I pulled the rain gutters off they were rusted through all along the center, we will put new ones back on the car.
insert m***ive amounts of jealousy here! Rex, it's looking REALLLLL good! You'll be driving this one in no time!
How do you go about pulling the rain gutters off? Also thanks for the update very nice work! Let's see some pics of the sub rails and all the inside work when you get a chance.
On pulling the rain gutters off for this car since the rain gutter were beyond repair i located the spot welds about 2" apart and drilled through just the outer gutter and then some hammer a chisel work. if i was saving the gutters i would have drilled through the skin on the back side. got the B Pillars tacked and the rear window tacked in. Spent the rest of the day on honey do list.
Cool thanks Rex!! That 2" will help since the front of mine have came undone. I'll measure out and start drilling.
Been making some head way on the 5 window the chop is done the header is replaced the roof insert is in the floors are in, installed a model A cross member and fabed a cover the door inners are back in. the new raingutters are on, the windsheild is cut working on gapping the doors, a lot of little things to do yet before i can call it done but were getting closer. The wood will go back in this week along with the gapping the doors. This is not a restoration so some of the interior brackets were not made to the orgional style just to help save some time.
REX, you are my HERO! Thos inner doors look great and I was wondering what I was going to do about my own. I was hoping that I could somehow make a few pieces like you did and stiffen them with some beads for integrity. That's exactly what I needed to see to make me feel a bit better about my inner doors since that would blow my budget right out of the water. I also like the B Pillar lower triangle brace with the dimpled hole. All very nice work. The chop is bananas!!! How much was taken out of that front windshield again? Also you don't happen to have some of those full length cowl patches that maybe you consider unworthy lying around do you hehe?
My Part is done on this build i will go over and help fit the hood and finish the floors up when the time comes. A lot of hammer and dolly work the door edges welded and gapped. a Seat frame made and a whole list of small items along with a bit of lead work. After getting the car out side tonight and taking a good look I like the wedge chop. (the rear wheels could be a bit larger) I am really wanting 5 window of my own after you spend som much time getting them back into shape it is hard to see them leave, this car was not metal finished out a 100% it just would have eaten the time up and sometimes thats when you lose some intrest in the project, still all the panels fit great and the overall car is in great shape. the owner of this car will proably drive it as is for a ear or so before any paint is put on it. the wood was all usable on the car here is a pic of the quarter window wood blown apart I kinda like the orgional wood and how Ford constructed the joints
