Hello. I need to read your posts later using laptop . I hate these "smart phones". I just come to Bangkok. I take breath before dark and mystery hot rod building winter. Just washed garage walls and repainted too. washed top and light reflectors. Now there is enough lux to work. In finland we have few "unchopped" henry 5w coupe rod. No one cool outlook. Maybe need chop top,.... Little. Sorry, No fenders this time. (FED is rest. maybe i fix it in the future. One project at time. ) aulis
Auliz I really like the look it has with the stock roof, but if you do chop it I say chop the hell out of it and make the roof lower than your other one. Make it the lowest roof line up there in Finland. That's rock and roll cool. Good luck we know it will be kick ass when your done.
I agree big deuce! It already looks ten times better than mine with WAY more metal....and I'm driving mine around! Enjoy it Aulis!
I was think same than Big Deuce --> I leave car like it is. Rat outlook, polished blower engine and that´s it. But ,when car arrived, there is so much cracks all over body, too much missing sheet metal,... so, too bad body for "original style patin rod". Good thing is that I like built winters and also use those cars on the highway or city use. Too many hot rods are drive only sundays to the meetings (if weather is perfect or 100%). First I make new rear quarters, door skins, LH cowl side, trunk lid,....then I see what it looks and decide if I cut 1" from top. Thanks, I try to enjoy. Aulis BKK
Ok put the blown flatty in the fed, build another flatty for the coupe and put a hitch on it to tow the fed........ works for me.........
Hello Carl, I have think that posibility too. I can rebuilt one 59A shortblock and install on it McCulloch M40 centerfugal supercharger + y-sling + 2 x 97. That looks good in Coupe. Maybe I do like that. Good thing is that this coupe can be "test bench" for flatheads. 1st need to install italmeccanica engin,e because I need to tune up it driving on rolls & dyno on Bosch dynobench. Aulis Monday back home from BKK. I found big leather wholesaler. Today I go ot buy all interior material (good quality leather) to my coupe Project. 200usd = 11 sqm (110-120 sqf). Not bad price ! Yesterday bought few electr.connectors + fiber washers. 10.00usd all.
110 sqf top qulity leather bought and packed in to travelling bag. Bought some crocodile tail leathers.
Slowly going foward. Today I push car in and started to remove parts. During weekend I leave body for sandblast. Body is shit. I wonder it has not collapsed. Both rear quarters need to make new, over 40 dent in top, both cowl sides car strech.... This time I paid too much. Good thing is that I can do all myself, but takes so much time.... here +20pics from start. Later I leave here few pics week. aulis
Slowly start with this Project. Today picked up from sandblasting. 3 set very good Lincoln fron drums + hubs. Nokia Hakkapeliitta 16" winter tires (60y old, but good condition). First Nokia made Wellington boots, tires, televisions,...and finally 80´s telephones. Now they are leader in Network business (before next down time,..) Last week I welded mountings to my Pullmax 5 right side. Now can have bolted on power hammer or louvers dies. Last week I ordered shrinker dies from Eckold (switcherland). frequency convertet (need to get RPM down) + food pedal. When installed Eckold dies and those electrical equipments, can test use. Here few pics. A
What a great set up you have there.I look forward to seeing this project move along.I agree with you about the axle...what a nice job someone made of dropping that. A friend of mine sold his chopped five window to a guy in Finland...it is green with yellow chequered scallops, running a 348. Please keep the pictures and text coming, I'm loving this.
Thanks. I recognize that deuce. I sold him my old 348cid and now he has stroke 409 (+450cid) bolted on. I try write. My enlish is not good, but it´s better than here Hamb 99,99% of members finnish , so I stay english. Italmeccanica engine is ready for this car. Two weeks ago I bought 293cid short block from Michigan. 293cid + M-40 McCulloch blower will be this 5w coupe´s another engine choise/option. Aulis
Radius rods sanded and polished. Final sanding 500 and polishing (heavy cutting). 2 x 6hours. RH radius rod was little curved, but get it pressed straight. Same time TIG welded upsides. Next front axle and last front wishbone. I send all those parts to Cromium plating. Aulis
Front axle grinded, sanded and polished. It was hard 7hours, those forged heavy axles are so heavy stuff,.... aulis
What is this SW "moon" gauge set? Just bought it. Needs rebuilding. I have few ideas this car gauges. This is one of those . A
Don't know for sure, but it might be a gauge cluster from a Moon automobile. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Motor_Car
Thank You. You (late to the party) are right. Moon motor car Co. gauge set. I open it and restore that set. If all works, that SW set looks good. Today need to continue "shitjob". One long day more and then I have ready with all big parts what are send to Sweden (crome). Aulis
Nice work, and nice shop. My friend has a 1920 Moon car. Still waiting to see it, he has it stored on other side of the Island. Those gauges will certainly be different in your 32.
Thanks Kiwijeff, from another side of the Ball. Today arrived Eckold shrinking dies to my Pullmax 5. Need to make mounting brackets for pullmax. 3/4" x 3/4" shaft I have 3meters waiting for that. One friend has made me food pedal & Equalizer --> can drop down Pullmax RPM. Aulis
Finally all ready and shipped out to Borlänge Sweden. (dala krom och metalsliperi Ab). Garage "was" nice and clean. Aulis
New hot rod parts shipment, to my hot rod shop, arrived from CA. in same shipment I get some "Christmas presents" for own Project. (Gauges, regulator front wheel alingment tool etc.)
OK, this pullmax is off topic, but I will need it very much when I start to make new sheet metals to this Project. Yesterday i got Mitsubishi frequence converter + food pedal. Eckold shrinker dies arrived week before.
Hey Aulis - great stuff, keep it coming! Sounds like you're really getting your metal working machinery setup - which you will definitely need. Thanks for all the posts. D
